For about a month I have been unable to play any compilations. It’s because the bug, acknowledged by Sonos, that was rolled out like a month ago. With the bug, all albums are sorted by song artist, rather than album artist. This makes many copies of albums. I have some albums where it gets listed 20 times!

I can’t imagine this hasn’t been fixed yet - it’s been a month. If it has been fixed, what do I need to do to my system to get everything right again?

@robokitty

Best you can do is just waiting for the next update(s). Sonos is aware of the issue and working to get it fixed.
There are still many things on the to do list, so it takes some time.

Not fixed yet 😣. Hoping Sonos will fix with next Firmware update, but not holding my breathe due to the reported layoffs etc that are currently going on at Sonos. I do hope @Corry P hasn’t been affected.

Ross.

Just to be 100% clear here, this requires a speaker firmware update to fix it, the speakers do the indexing. So unless you get a message saying speakers need updating, it’s unlikely an app release has fixed it.

@Schlumpf I’m pretty sure some of my speakers have updated recently, but it could be that they were on really old firmware. Anway, I’m hoping that the fix “just works”, and that I don’t need to do something like remove my music library and re-add it.

And, sure, they are working on it. But a month? Where I work this would need to be fixed in 24 hours…

@robokitty

I‘m not in a position to judge the conditions of fixing something nor to say how long it normally will take. But as said there are also other fixes on the list that could have higher priority. I just tried to help by saying how it is at the moment.
And yes, normally after such a fix the library doesn’t has to be set up again. Just indexing probably will need a refresh imo.

Download SonoPad or Sonophone if you are using iOS where you can then select my music and folders. Everything working fine on there at the time of writing.

Another app can‘t fix this issue. The firmware is responsible for indexing. Using folder view is a workaround, but can also be used with the Sonos app.
Sonophone shows the same and is affected by the bug in the same way if using album view.

All I know is that on the Sonos app if I go to folder it only offers a search facility but if I use SonoPad and go to folder all the artists are listed and all the albums are available under various artists whereas most are other duplicated or missing on the Sonos app.

Yes, I can got to folders in either the sonos app or Sonopad, but for compilation albums it’s not a great solution. I don’t always remember what folders they are in. tx.

To clarify… nobody talked about that as a solution. It’s just a workaround to use folders till the compilation album bug is fixed.

@DeanShaw

What you see depends on the tags, file names and folder structure of your library source. I can confirm that it shows the same using the Sonos app or a third party app. And also folder view for me work with both apps.

Not here it’s not. On the Sonos app folders now comes up blank with just a search bar at the bottom. It was working fine before that though. Seems different folks are getting different problems.

In any case, this is a bug that imao should be fixed. Yes, there are various work-arounds.

Today Firmware 16.4.2 update resolved that.  Compilation album view works now.
