I had heard that with iOS 18 there would be some changes in Airplay which allows you to stream Dolby Atmos (spatial audio) music directly from the Apple Music app to third party speakers like the Sonos Arc.  Doesn’t seem to be the case right now even with yesterday’s release of 18.1.  Anyone heard anything?  I’d like to use the Music app with my Sonos system but don’t want to lose the Dolby Atmos.

Why don’t you just play Dolby Atmos (Spacial Audio) from the Apple Music app in the Sonos app?

I do but the interface and the ablity to find music is way better on the  Music app.

 Got it.

I have created several Atmos playlists in Apple Music so maybe that’s why I find using the Apple Music app in the Sonos app so easy to use.  I’m very playlist oriented.  Also very modern classical orchestral oriented.

 What’s your Atmos setup?  I’m Arc-Sub3-300s.

I use playlists occasionally but I more frequently search for and sample new music. Both of these are harder I find on the Sonos App.  What I end up doing is seaching on Apple Music, adding to by library, then switch to the Sonos app to play back in DA.

My setup: Arc-2 Sub 3’s-300s.  Love the sound.

Don’t know if you a fan of Classical, but even if you’re not you should listen to John Williams; A Gathering of Friends.  It’s big!
