Cover art stored in flat files aren't bring displayed in the current app, and I can't create my own playlists from my library of music stored on a Nas box

You’re better off creating your own M3U playlists using some PC or Mac software then putting those files in with your music folder. Make a folder named Playlists and put that folder in your music folders. After an index it will show in the Sonos app as Imported Playlists.
