Hello all,

I have a house full of Sonos Play 3s and a Sonos 5 speaker that were old on my IOT WiFi network.  I wanted to move them back to my non-IOT WiFi network, which proved impossible using the normal “update your network” workflow through the app.  I got frustrated and factory reset every single speaker and connected them to my non-IOT network one by one.  Well, three days later and half the speakers migrated back to the old IOT network, and some didn’t.  I see both networks listed again in the app, and even when I try to delete the old network, it reappears about 10 seconds later.  Any ideas on how to fix this once and for all, I’ve wasted enough time trying to fix this and am tiring of constantly having to be patient with this system.

Thanks in advance.

Is it practical for you to change the password on one of the networks?

Actually the way I was able to get it off the IOT network was to rename that SSID temporarily, however with all the IOT devices on that network, it's impractical to change each one of them just so Sonos can no longer connect to it.  Is there really no way to remove an old WiFi network from the Sonos?  Also, I don't think the speakers are communicating with each other via WiFi, as they are all working right now but only a few have an IP from my DHCP server.  Probably some using their own dedicated wireless network.

There is the wireless and wired systems FAQ, and the wired and wireless modes FAQ, as well as the new router - installation instructions FAQ.

None of those documents help me successfully remove the old wireless network from the system, it just reappears over and over, full reset or not.

Then I’d recommend that you call Sonos Support directly to discuss it, if none of those sources help.

Hi @fvultee, an observation an idea for you. Sonos devices communicate with one another and share setup information. So your factory reset needs to be carefully sequenced ...

  • Unplug all Sonos devices
  • Delete all Sonos apps for good measure
  • Reinstall the Sonos app on your favorite device
  • Factory reset your devices one by one

… naturally the above is a PITA, so I only suggest this as a last resort.
