I just managed to get my IKEA Symfonisk speakers to work (from my tablet; having them work using my phone is a hopeless cause)!
However, I’m flabbergasted.
(a) There is no indication of how to use them in any way other than from the Sonos app. Can’t one simply use them as speakers as one would use any other speakers from any app? If so, why?
(b) The Sonos app lets me connect to Sonos Radio and to (say) the CBC. However, while it pretends to let me connect to YouTube Music, every search within YouTube Music returns an empty list. Why?
( c) Can I at least play a file on my tablet? How?
As it is, the Sonos App is letting me use these speakers strictly within a framework that one might call “glorified radio”. I get to choose the channel but not the music. Bit frustrating.
(Now that the speakers are set up, is there any hope of bypassing the Sonos App and using a mainstream home assistant (say)?)
