Had sonos linked to a Spotify premium account for about 5 years now & having upgraded I now get adverts playing utilising my premium Spotify account!! How can resolve this annoying situation??

I’m not sure why upgrading your system, whatever you may have upgraded, would cause you to hear adverts when using Spotify.
If you’re getting adverts however, it’s likely the system thinks you have a free account connected, rather than a premium. To resolve this, please reauthorize Spotify in the Sonos app by going into the Sonos app → Services & Voice → Spotify → Reauthorize Account.

Hi, much appreciated for your reply, I have re-authorised the account several times to combat the problem, with no change !. I have checked that the account associated with Sonos is premium & still encountering adverts.
I have unistalled the app & reinstalled too !
I must be missing a trick somewhere!

That’s very strange, I’m not sure what could be causing this. If your account is premium and you’ve reauthorized/removed and re-added Spotify, there shouldn’t be any reason you’d be getting ads.
Are you listening to Podcasts when getting ads? From what I can see, the Spotify API can play ads with premium when listening to Podcasts, so that may be the issue you’re running into?
If you’re getting ads with regular music streaming, then I’d suggest reaching out to our support team for further troubleshooting.

Because the issue is on Spotify’s servers, and Sonos doesn’t have access?
Thank you for your suggestion. Note that Spotify plays ad-free in the Spotify app. So the workaround is to play native Spotify, then change the output to the sonos speakers in the native apple op system as opposed to playing Spotify IN the sonos app.
it just seems odd that Sonos cannot integrate Spotify in the app.
Spotify has told Sonos to go get the content from a different server, one that has the Sonos API residing on it. The Spotify app itself points to another server, which does not have the Sonos API on it. Again, both servers are owned and maintained by Spotify.
I see. That explanation makes sense. So Spotify is not playing nice with Sonos? Bummer. I’ll hafta lobby Spotify in that case! At least the workaround works! Thank you.
