I have wifi at home with sonos configured.  I have new speakers at my office, so i need to add another wifi to use office speakers. Buggered if i can add another wifi to my account.

any help, thanks

Hi @pneunborn

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

We are aware of an issue preventing some Sonos devices (those without Bluetooth Low Energy) from being added to a new Wi-Fi network, and are working to resolve it. Speakers with ethernet sockets can be connected to a router via ethernet to ease the Wi-Fi setup process.

However, if you are setting up new speakers in your office as a new system, you shouldn’t be adding a second Wi-Fi - you just need to set up a new system. You may need to reset the Sonos app to get this option, however - please go to User icon » App Preferences » Reset app » Reset. Note, however, that this will make the app forget your home system - you’ll need to reset again to reconnect it when you get home. We are working on bringing support for multiple systems to the app.

I hope this helps.

Well ROAM is for travel and setting it to work in a new network should be easy thing (for example a hotel wi fi). Unfortunately, it is not the case. Update network https://support.sonos.com/pl-pl/article/connect-sonos-to-a-new-router-or-wi-fi-network does not work. Simply, there is no such step as

  1. Under Your System, select Update network.

Every time App asks me to set up a new system. Which means not only adding devices but also adding and authorising music services. What a crap. How can I add new wifi information to an existing system?

And more general: what is the concept of my systems registered under my account? It should be simple hierarchy:

account

  System 1

     Device 1

     Device 2

     Service1 etc

  System 2

etc.

And then from My account a user should be able to select an already created system and then update wifi information in the app and in devices.

Hi @User230090

Sorry to hear of the issue you are having with connecting a Roam to a new WiFi. I think where it might be going wrong for you is the type of WiFi - hotels typically have WiFi systems that need further logging-in once connected - this is when they get to ask and keep your email address. Due to this extra step, Sonos devices cannot connect to such WiFi systems. A possible workaround would be to carry a travel router around - connect this to the hotel WiFi, then connect Sonos and your phone to it.

Unfortunately, it is not the case. Update network https://support.sonos.com/pl-pl/article/connect-sonos-to-a-new-router-or-wi-fi-network does not work. Simply, there is no such step as

If you are connecting a Roam to a new WiFi, you definitely do not want to set up a new system. When I connect my phone to my guest WiFi (which prevents it from finding Sonos), I get the following two screens:

And the Update Network option works for me (or it seems to - I cannot fully complete the process as a guest WiFi network won’t work at the best of times).

And more general: what is the concept of my systems registered under my account? It should be simple hierarchy:

  System 1

Apologies - I don’t understand this part. Are you looking at part of the app, or part of our website? And, which parts?

I hope this helps.

Hi @Corry P

the point of the last section is about retriving my system information and making changes to network settings. Apparently, My System information can not be retrived from My Account or from the app, it can only be retrived from a device discovered in the network. Which makes a dead end loop: I can not update network information for a system, because my app does not show any system based on my account information or stored in App. It would show my system if only it could detect some devices in the network - but this will not happen because devices do not have information about new WiFi…

For some misterious reason, my app does not work like yours.

Speaking about hotel networks - I am referring to “regular” networks with SSID and password.

best,

Hi @User230090

I’m afraid I’m still not sure what it is you are asking me. Why do you need to “retrieve your system information”? The app has ways of finding nearby speakers and communicating with them before WiFi is connected - it’s how they are set up in the first place.

But, if you are having trouble with connecting a Roam to a specific network - like a hotel - there are other options. A travel router is one, as mentioned, and if you have a voice assistant installed on the speaker already, you could connect it to a phone’s hotspot and just use voice commands to control it - you could also do this if you have a second device like a tablet rather than a voice assistant.

Or, you could simply connect your Roam to your phone with Bluetooth and use a music app on your phone to select music.

Speaking of which, please ensure you have Bluetooth enabled on your phone when trying to connect a speaker to a new WiFi network - that may have been the issue you were having.

For some misterious reason, my app does not work like yours.

When not connected to a system, there should be no difference between any apps. Please ensure you have the latest version of the app installed.

I hope this helps.
