Is there anyway to adjust the volume really low, I want to have my Play:1 on when I go to bed but I can't adjust down the volume low enough through my iPhone 6S Plus.

Slide it all the way down, then tap to the right of the slider. This will give you the finest granularity available. One tap will give you the lowest volume level above zero.
