This is not a full windows 8 platform but will work new surface tablet and Samsung and others plan to use this OS which is not fully windows 8 compatible. It would be very helpful if sonos would support this as the tablet looks promising.

I am about to get a new phone - really need a sense of whether there's going to be a controller app for use on Windows phones to help me decide which way to go.
I'm not sure i understand the statement "We’re listening to your suggestions and will be looking for some more detailed feedback on how you use Windows Phone in your home soon."?
I think everyone's point is they do NOT use it to control their Sonos system (at least not with an official App), and would like to be able to as soon as possible.
That will only happen with Sonos investment.
After over 1 year of nothing useful to report from Sonos with regards to a Windows phone app, the Sonos brand has gone down in my estimations. 8 months ago you could have stated this would not be available any time soon and allowed those that wished too to move on, rather than teasing that you were heading in a good direction. It appear your latest statement confirms nothing has changed in the past 8 months.

Amazon Mobile, Amazon Kindle, eBay, Pandora, PayPal, Adobe Reader, Fly Delta, GoToMeeting, American Airlines, United Airlines, Bank of America, Direct TV, Twitter, Domino's Pizza, Vivint/Alarm.com. These are some the fully functioning apps that I currently use on my Windows Phone that are not third party published. Hopefully Sonos will publish its Windows Phone controller soon. I must say, with complete and all due respect, it is difficult to think that the Windows Phone App is only "Under Consideration", especially for a company that in my opinion has produced a flawless, wireless sound system with the greatest sound quality and play options available. I thoroughly enjoy my system every day, so thanks.
I use Windows Phone like most people use a smart phone. Surfing the web, ordering food, checking weather, banking, sports, listening to music, controlling my home, etc. Maybe I'm not understanding the question Ryan.
Come on Sonos!
I run everything on Windows 8 and Windows Phone. I don't want to buy an iPad or Android tablet. You have had plenty of time to "take it under consideration", now give us more information on the likelyhood of apps for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone. When can we expect a more detailed response from you.
Please don't ask how we use our Windows Phone in the household. It is irrelevant and takes even more time. We just want the controller on our favorite platform, Windows 8,1 and Windows Phone
Thank you!

Agreed. If you want to know how we want to use it, basically no different than how I used to use it on the iPad and iPhone. This is not rocket science and honestly appears to be a stall tactic...
If you have to start with basic functionality, that is fine, but get something out there... right now I have to remote desktop into a windows pc to make it work....
I agree - a Windows phone app.is way past due. I have the Phonos one, but it's features are limited and it's clunky. But, I love my Sonos system.
I hope you guys develop an app soon. I am deciding on buying a music streaming solution for my house and am strongly considering sonos, but all my devices are Windows based. I have the Suraface 2, Nokia 920. If Sonos had an app for Windows RT and Windows Phone, I wouldn't have even considered anything else. Still hoping they will come out with an app before I buy.
Windows Phone app OR simple hardware remote ASAP .... PLEASE!
Hello,
We’ve created a brief survey which has some questions on what Windows Phone you currently use, what Sonos components you have, and what features are important to you. When you have a few minutes, we’d appreciate any feedback you can provide us via the survey.
You can take it by following this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/AskSonosWindowsPhone
Thanks everyone for your continued feedback and support.

Sonos has a survey now about Windows phones/apps: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/AskSonosWindowsPhone
Possibly looking to finally develop an app?
Possibly looking to finally develop an app?
This will probably just lead to another years wait with nothing at the end. This request for an app has been going on for long enough now that we should have an app for wp8/rt,not be still waiting for Sonos to make a decision if to make one.

If you want windows...take the survey 🙂

Took the survey, but I'm a little confused as to why you've published this in the first place? Surely if you're going with a WP8 app then you would give it the same features as iOS and Droid, would you not? Don't get me wrong, it finally feels like you guys are moving forward with something. However my concern now is that us WP8 users will end up with some half cut version, based on the more important features you gather from your survey.
Well well... "Xbox’s Marc Whitten leaving Microsoft for Sonos"
New Sonos controller app announced today... place your bets.
Just read the website and once again, we're not invited to the party.
@Ryan E. We are now struggling for over a year to get a Sonos controller on a windows phone and now we get a survey to answer.
Is there no progress in this year and no strategy in the company ???

Just read the same article I think.
"We've been considering it, but don't have any further plans at the moment."
God, this is so frustrating. This has been the top request for such a long time then we hear statements like that. What the hell is the point of this website if the requests are simply ignored? Or worse, Sonos just sling out surveys to make it look like they may be doing something.
Coming to the conclusion they are just a bunch of time-wasting idiots.

This has been going on for over a year now and still no windows phone app from Sonos. just asking us to take surveys and comment here. Well clearly that doesnt work. check out a reply I have from Sonos, trying to steer blame towards Microsoft!!
"I would also like to suggest, if you want the Sonos controller application to run on your Windows phone, that you send this same request to Microsoft."
Well thanks Morgan D'Antonio from Sonos Customer Care but it is not for Microsoft to design and produce on your behalf! Maybe I could ask you to come and do my job for me. This reply has irritated me somewhat

Hi Again, Well this Morgan D'Antonio from Sonos Customer care just wants to dig a bigger hole for himself now, still trying to somehow suggest that Microsoft could be somehow accountable! Is this guy for real or am I missing something here? his email......
"You are correct that Sonos must program the app. And Microsoft must approve it before it can be offered. It's a team effort.
Unlike other platforms such as Google Android, the Microsoft Mobile platform is completely proprietary. Microsoft has total control over what programmers are and are not allowed to access in the phone.
By way of an example, we cannot change the Sonos wireless channel from an iOS device (iPhone or iPad). This is because Apple believes those UPnP protocol commands are just too much of a security risk to allow the devices to use them. So iPhone users have to go to their computers to change that feature in Sonos.
I do not have the specific reason or reasons for the delays in releasing a Win 8 Phone controller. And even if I did have access to that information, Sonos has a strict corporate policy of not discussing new products before their Marketing announcements.
Although it is not recommended by Sonos, perhaps you would be interested in "Phonos". They make Windows Phone applications for Sonos. The Phonos Lite app currently works on Windows 8 and RT... http://www.phonos.org/windows/default.html
Currently, Phonos only permits basic playback control. You can't select new music, change groups, or configure any part of the system. The features that are missing from Phonos Lite are missing, not because Sonos has done anything to block those features."

Hi Gary,
First, please accept my apologies that you received this email and I'd like to thank you for bringing it to our attention. As you've noted, there are a number of inaccuracies. You should receive an email from a member of our management team shortly as a follow-up.
I'm going to remove the posting so factually inaccurate information doesn't propagate further. I hope you understand the rationale for this.
An official Windows Phone app for Sonos is under consideration but when we do have new information to share, we'll share it here first. Thank you for your patience and support.
John
o dear I just had my last post removed stating the following:
"This post contains an email sent with factually incorrect information."
The funny thing is that i posted an email sent from Sonos making excuses.
i have emailed Microsoft his comments as I believe that they try to apportion blame at their door. This may well be factually incorrect but I will post any reply I get from microsoft

Hi Gary,
I removed the post but I hope you received my reply in the thread beforehand. You should've gotten an email from the system.
If you didn't see the response, please accept my apologies for the email you received. We're following up on the matter internally and you should expect to hear from us shortly.
The reason the post was pulled down from this thread was because the information conveyed to you was not factual (as you yourself noted), and I'm hoping to avoid further spread of misinformation. I hope you understand.
Thanks,
John
They usually have the same interface for all devices. So if runs on android and iOS...expect the same if they make windows app
