I have noticed recently that when changing channels on my tv the sound disappears! If I scroll through the channels, back and forth, the sound will come back eventually. What could be causing this problem?

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say your TV isn't properly reinitializing the Dolby Digital output through the optical port. This happens occasionally on my older Vizio.
Try switching your TV's audio settings temporarily to Stereo, and see if it continues. If it stops exhibiting the behaviour, I think it's an issue with the TV. If it does still do this, than it's more of a chance to be a problem with the Sonos (although still not 100%)
I'd probably also double check to make sure your TV has the latest available software/firmware update on it.
