Just got the upgrade for Sonos 8.2 and noticed that now the app runs non-stop in the background. If it's a bug then fine, but if it's intentional to run the app permanently in the background then it's really not good. You could get away with it in previous versions of Android, but on Oreo you get very clear notification about apps not used but still running.

Is the app permanently running in the background a 'new feature' or a bug? I really can't justify keeping on my phone an application draining resources all the time.
Confirmed. It runs in the background until you force stop it. Sucked down half my battery before I figured it out. Running Sonos 8.2.2 on Android 8.1.0
