Hi there,

I have been using a sonos for several years now and I am considering getting rid of it.

Whey ? The sound is OK, just fine but when you have thousands of title and you want to find one using the search tool of your GUI, you have 99% chances not finding it.

How come, in 2021, a company like yours could not improve such a basic feature?

Thanks

Perhaps you could provide some specific examples?

Ygyg1,

To hopefully provide some support to your opening post, can you perhaps kindly provide some examples of tracks/albums/artists/playlists/stations etc. where you are unable to find them through the Sonos App, that exist in the Music Service(s) you use, so the Sonos Support Staff can maybe take a closer look at the reasons why they are not being found.

I too would like to see some kind of ‘Boolean’ type search facility with wildcards/sounds-like etc in the S2 App, but having said that (and in contrary to your comments about your own search results), I rarely do not find the item I am looking for, particularly if spelt correctly with some whole/complete words that appear in its title.

Any examples you can share would be good for all to see.

Thanks for your prompt replies gentlemen.

One example : when typing Vivaldi, I cannot find those records for Antonio Vivaldi.

Cheers

Are you searching for “Vivaldi” under the “Artists” category?

See attached..?

yes

@Ygyg1 Try resetting the app under App Preferences and rebooting your phone. Then try your search again and make sure the “Artists” category is selected.

This is not really Sonos' fault and nothing to do with the GUI.

Music services are just not geared to the tagging and organisation required for classical music.  Who is the Artist? Is it the composer? The orchestra? The conductor? The soloist?

You should get a subscription to a specialist classical music service like Primephonic. Don't expect this to improve on the mainstream services.

Having said that, there is still a lot of music under Antonio Vivaldi as an Artist on Amazon Music, for example.

It speaks to the state of the world that these listeners are a niche outlier subset. But I have heard accounts of Roon doing it better?
