In the new 2024 Sonos App :

Where are the alarms settings?

Where is the Last.fm service?

Where is the Android widget?

This is a real nightmare. I hope Sonos will fix all that asap because what they did releasing this not finished app is scandalous.

I guess there was a firmware update that my system executed today. I don’t know what it took care of. My system went from version 16.4.2 to 16.4.4. Still doesn’t hold your place in the playlist but at least it didn’t stop things from working.  I hope.

Is there anyway to improve the new apps recognition of my speakers ? It takes 30 seconds + for it to show my system and then another 30 to start playing from Amazon Music / sonos. Its awful and that's even if it works. Sometimes it pretends to play and doesn't other times if forgets a system is even there. I am so fed up with this whole thing

Really disappointed that, in the latest IOS app (v80.11.39; end of October), it STILL appears impossible to add a music library folder to the END of the queue and/or add multiple music library folders to the queue simultaneously. This makes it virtually impossible to play a double-CD or Box-set on Sonos boxes without having to turn on a laptop and use the windows app.

Have flagged this issue for six months via various platforms (X, mail, reddit, Trello). Public comments on X are acknowledged, but not adressed. The trello board is as vague as hell, by the way. It never provides any description of the actual problem Sonos says it intends to solve; just a broad unspecific title that can mean anything or nothing.

Timelines for restoring the apps’ functionality also keep shifting… from end of summer, to end of October, to end of year…

Genuinely lost for words at how bad this app is!!!

thousands of pounds spent on these premium products, buggy speaker updates and now this morning the app doesn’t even load on my device!!

ive been a supporter of this brand for years but this is the WORST app update I’ve ever seen, I can’t even play tracks from Amazon music with option to skip tracks. The disrespect shown to customers is unbelievable and I wouldn’t be surprised if Sonos disappeared

When are this farago of jokers going to get things working reliably?

Here in the UK all socalled upgrades for the last year or so have ended in chaos.

After the complete c**k up in May things improved (occasionally) now, again, my App refuses to connect to my router. This is a ‘round the houses’ state of affairs which has regularly been repeated for MONTHS.

Do this outfit employ ANY competent software engineers?

It’s a Marx brothers meet HIFi situation.

I’m very close to putting all my Sonos Kir on Ebay and starting again with some competent supplier.

Patrick Whatsit should stand for President he’s clearly not up to the job.

Totally Pi**ed’ off Customer from the UK

Hi everybody. You know, I really do love my Sonos system. At least, I love the one I have in the TV room. It sounds fantastic! The trouble is, if I want to connect a Move, for instance, in the kitchen while I’m cooking dinner, sometimes it connects to my Mac, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it replaces the TV sound with what I’m trying to listen to in the kitchen, and the only fix is a full system shutdown and restart. Sometimes, it says it can’t connect. Sometimes, it works seamlessly. You know what? Enough is enough. In light of these ongoing issues, instead of purchasing 2 x Five for music, I went with Cambridge and the Evo One. No problems. No conflicts. An intuitive app. I think Sonos could learn a lot from those guys. Make me come back… I dare you, because right now you are not cutting the mustard.

Sonos app is rubbish

How can it be a good user experience when every time I go back to the app it starts up on the home screen and not where I have left it before?

This is extremely annoying. If you've chosen an artist or album you have to go though all the screens and clicks again of you want to change to another album. If there are hundreds of artists or albums you scroll for a long time (another annoying"feature").

Even that bad that it some times doesn't even recognise or finds the current Sonos system.

This is the worst app in years of app development.

(Feel free to add your worst "feature".)

Thanks (or maybe better no thanks for this "app", which more like a "no-app")

P.S. open your api so that more advanced and experienced developers can create somethin sensible and usable.

Besides the sad fact that the current application lacks feature parity with the former one, it still has puzzling connectivity issues compared to the desktop apps (Mac in this case, but I’m quite sure this is the same with Windows). I have a speaker quite far away from my wifi transmitter, so its signal is rather weak. It sometimes loses its loaded playlist, and this has been the case for… forever I guess. But when this happens, the mobile application has trouble to reload a new playlist to this speaker. Meanwhile, the desktop application does not experience any problem to do the same operation. I’m not eagerly waiting the moment that Sonos will chose to deprecrecate those desktop applications in favor for the web apps...

I would have likes a big excuse ffrom the company to the owners of Sonos products for destroying the user experience. At least let us trade in the products. My patience is done. Im selling my 28 Sonos products now. I have no more time for s***** software.

Has anyone else decided that they are not buying additional sonos products?  I swear this last upgrade roll out, it's layout. I absolutely hate it.  It seems like they talk with exactly the wrong people when making a design decision.  What are your thoughts?  Also how can you add a song while in Sonos to a Spotify playlist.  I don't mean liked songs.  Who wants 50 liked songs in that list.  Maybe it's just me.

november 24 : still no last.fm support

thanks

6 months pass by and the app is still a steaming pile of p00.

Aha… thx for the information, but I can’t confirm that for myself.

The recent update is working okay here on an old iPhone XR running iOS v18.1.

Don’t get me wrong, the app works. It still does not work to the level of the previous app. It takes too long to open, the volume level still goes screwy. Why can I not just have my playlists on the front screen instead of all jumbled in with ‘favourites’. Where is the artwork for playlists. And then we get some Nick bloke giving himself 10 out of 10 for a great job done so far. He must be living in lala land. After 6 months I expected to at least get to where the last app was… in another six months I think it will still be pooish.

Anyways here’s my gif, to show how unfriendly it is.

@Nflonly,

Your screen-capture animation seems to end/loop before the App is loaded and you likely just need to improve the SNR levels for your products, perhaps?

If that’s not the case, then I would perhaps take up the issue with Sonos Support - there’s hopefully quite a bit they can do to assist you and your App display.

I can think of quite a few things that might assist, but it maybe much easier to discuss the issue with Sonos Staff on the phone once they have seen your video recording in full, diagnostic information and you’ve described the system snd network to them in detail.

Anyhow, here is the link to speak to Sonos Suport and I hope you can get the issue resolved…

I have similar issue. Deleting and reinstalling the garbage app usually fixes it for a period of time.

I think the real frustration for me is that my Sonos system has become so flakey, laggy and unpredictable. From one day to the next I don’t know whether I will be able to see some of my speakers, whether I can group them and whether they will play music. I also find that the ability to access the system will vary between using my iPad and my iPhone - many times some speakers will be viewable on one device but not the other. I can wait up to 5 minutes for music to start playing and I often just give up trying to group speakers together. As many others on this forum have said, I used to be a big advocate of Sonos but no more - wouldn’t recommend anymore and do wish I could go back and choose another system. I used to think the ‘old’ app was a bit flakey, but goodness me the ‘new’ version is just terrible. Such a shame Sonos - what were you thinking?

Exactly what I am experiencing every day.  Sometimes there sometimes not.  Better than May/June since it eventually finds the system and connects- the key word being “eventually”.  My family used to access Sonos seamlessly- now they just call on me to “fix” Sonos on their devices- happens at least weekly.

Don’t expect any assistance from Sonos. . . they are just trying to stay in business.

Well here we are, six months on from D(isaster)-Day. For those of us still suffering a selection of random problems that have made our equipment difficult or impossible to use since then I guess that we have to ask just how much longer we are expected to endure this pathetic (or, in Sonos terms, 'courageous') situation.

The failure of Sonos to restore its software to full functionality over this long period or to maintain the stated rectification schedule, plus the recent launch of a new product in spite of stating that the company would prioritise making its controllers work over new hardware introductions, makes me wonder if it is actually within their power to return our products to their as-purchased condition.

Perhaps six months is long enough to wait to find out. For me it certainly is and while in some respects it has been interesting to have been part of one of the biggest and most well-documented self-inflicted technological failures of any business, that is not what I expected to be buying into. Sonos, we're over here, not waving but drowning.

Dear Sonos, over 6 months and you still suck...You had one job!

Volume Response-Better, Not Great

App's room/speaker detection and ready state- Better, Not Great

Port, P5 (g2), p3, p1 (g2), playbar, beam (g1) all working better past two updates (since September), still not great.

Alarms... The reason I stopped using phone alarms and got rid of my bedside clock and alarm... Hot Streaming Mess! Not to mention the first morning after the system was updated, I missed my first work meeting because the speaker didn't alarm (it's on small surge and backup UPS that gives it 10 hours of backup, with chime as the default when Internet not accessible)... But that UPS is useless if the xxxx speaker doesn't even fire off the chime!  At least they fire now, old alarms with named stations show them and use them, new or adjusted alarms fail to recognize changed source and only play chime, UNFORTUNATELY.

Also, alarms used to indicate the name of the station or playlist and now doesn't!  And.... No longer allowed for new alarms to ACTUALLY fire anything but the chime, annoying AF!!!

PLEASE FOR GLORIOUS SAKE FIX THE ALARM FEATURE NOW/NEXT!!!

ATTN SONOS OWNERS WHO HAVEN'T SOLD OR DESTROYED THEIR PLAYERS.…

I have assisted two other local SONOS owners with success in restoring most features to a tolerable state while we burn down the candle at both ends waiting for SONOS to fix EVERYTHING.

UNPLUG ALL PLAYERS, WAIT 5 MINUTES, PICK ONE PLAYER TO BE THE MAIN PLAYER OF YOUR SYSTEM JUST FOR THIS EXERCISE (IF ONE OR ALL YOUR PLAYERS ARE WIRED, CHOOSE ANY; OTHERWISE CHOOSE THE ONE CLOSEST TO YOUR WI-FI ROUTER OR AP), PERFORM FACTORY RESET ON THIS UNIT AND RE JOIN IT TO YOUR SYSTEM, APPLY ANY UPDATES, TEST IT, PICK THE NEXT CLOSEST SPEAKER TO THE ONE YOU JUST ATTACHED AND PLUG IT UP AND WAIT FOR IT TO BE DETECTED AND JOINED (DO NOT RESET), APPLY UPDATES; REPEAT MOVING TO THE NEXT CLOSEST UNTIL ALL ARE JOINED.

BE SURE TO APPLY UPDATES AS SOON AS THEY ARE AVAILABLE AS MOST HAVE IMPROVED THINGS IF EVEN UNDER THE HOOD, WITH ONLY ONE REGRESSION THAT IMPACTED MY SYSTEM AND UNIQUE SETUP BUT SEEMS TO BE FIXED NOW, AGAIN.

6 months and still fighting the “System not found” and “Products not found” errors, that 13 days ago, they say is improved. No it isn’t. Not at all. This is multiple times a day.

I have clear cache, clear storage, force stop, uninstalled all Android apps on all devices. It works for a few hours, maybe a day max. I have a Google Pixel 7pro, Samsung Tab A9 Plus, Chromebook, and even the desktop app. All do the same thing. Tried remaking the system, but I fight the app for hours.

What’s the point in having the system if you can’t control the system. I’ve had components for 10+ years now and I’m ready to chuck it all. The components themselves I used to think were great, used to love the multiple room setup. I have something playing on them pretty much 24/7. Yes they maybe older, but they shouldn’t be uncontrollable. Now I hate it all. Easiest way for me to control them in any semblance of a usable way is through the Google Home app and automations!

I just now disconnected other rooms besides those used for the TV as I’m sick of it. When I can get a new soundbar system, those will be gone too. I’m done no matter how good the new ones may or may not be, I won’t be back.

I don’t like the new UI for the app either, but given it’s pretty unusable, can’t say much on it. Seriously where was the testing? Beta group testing even. This is utterly ridiculous. This is such a huge customer dissatisfaction that hasn’t been rectified in 6 months. I wouldn’t recommend these to anyone.

Just switched my wifi network - which took over an hour because of reasons, I guess, none of my new devices would show up under my new network - and now I get an error trying to add my Play 5 back in (it can’t update the network because also reasons, have to factory reset) saying it can’t find any other Sonos systems on my mobile network.  WHAT IN THE ACTUAL **** !  This app has done nothing since waste my time since the horrific update in May 2024.  THIS SHOULDN’T TAKE OVER AN HOUR JUST FOR ME TO SWITCH THE WIFI NETWORK.

This is the last straw - Sonos is in my rear view mirror at this point.  Your app and your software aren’t worth the pain any longer, why don’t you and Bose get together and talk about the suck your apps collectively are for your end users.

Why can’t I add a radio station via URL? I shouldn’t have to install a different app (Tunein) to do this! The ABC here in Australia has a great range of stations and not all are on Sonos radio. All have URLs though. I used to be able to do this easily. Surely not hard to implement. No mention of it anywhere except “use TuneIn”. This doesn’t work and is convoluted for something so simple.
