Question

"New" app - what are you thinking about

I have contacted your support several times since may when you launched the new app version.

Every time i get a real polite answer. We are working on this and it will be fixed en a couple of week.

Now many “couple of weeks” have passed and absolutely nothing has been fixed. Actually ten “10” weeks.

I still haven’t access to my music library (my primary source), cannot add to my playlists from other sources than Sonos own.

it is a scandal and you (Sonos) have failed your customers to that extent. It's a mockery. I am now actively looking for a replacement for my Sonos, I simply have to have a more stable and reliable system.

You’re absolutely right.  Not one thing has been fixed — not one.  It hard to believe you’re right there, but no — not one thing.

  • Sonos systems no longer support local library shares that use SMBv1 / HTTP. If your library was shared with Sonos using one of these older protocols, you can add it back to Sonos by manually sharing your music folder using SMBv2 or SMBv3, then adding it back to your system using the Sonos app for macOS or Windows.

Looking at your other post, you seem to be having a similar issue 4 years ago. Are you sure your problems don't have something to do with your network?

What does your network consist of? IPS router? Your own router? Mesh? Prosumer level?

Are your speakers wireless connected or hardwired to your network?

Is your local library on a PC, connected hard drive or NAS?

You didn't give any information about your system or network then, and it's the same now.

I did not have a similar issue 4 years ago. This is APP related, and if you care to do a quick search you will find that i am not alone. (you could start looking in your own replies to other users)

The issue i had before was my playlist for some reason vanished and i had to log of and on again.

My router is a Netgear Nighthawk RS300 and my ISP Is delivering 1Gbs and i have no issues network issues what so ever with my network, everything else works.

4 of my speakers use wifi, one of the i AMP is hard wired.

From my pc i know i can play via Airplay, but that is no t an option.

The issue about not being able to connect to the music library is recognised by Sonos, and they promissed to fix this within a few weeks. (more than 10 weeks ago)

My Music library is on a NAS (and also on a PC)

The Add music library is not available in the app so it does not matter where i have may music

My router is a Netgear Nighthawk RS300 and my ISP Is delivering 1Gbs

There are well documented (and accepted by Sonos) failures in the app functionality when it comes to playing music from a NAS library.

I use the Music Library as my sole source of music and it has been a frustrating experience since the now infamous update.

After over 2 months of “fixes”

  • The app is still slow to open (Android and Ipad)
  • The app is very slow to show all the sonos playlists (> 30 seconds when the prior app was virtually instantaneous and my NAS & Wifi havent changed)
  • You cannot manage items in the queue (android and Ipad)
  • The album catalog display is corrupted and fragmented
  • The Android version will often display “unable to load….” when displaying the queue
  • The Android Version crashes frequently
  • The Playlist display involves a ridiculous amount of scrolling  (2.5 per screen ! )

What rubs salt in the wounds is:-

There are numerous annoying adverts for sonos products (as if there is any chance of me ever buying another sonos product after this debacle !

and the arrogance of the messaging from the CEO - completely unacceptable.

Again, none of you are providing information that would help you in your situation. Everyone, including Sonos, knows about the issues some users are having and I agree the changes in the app carry’s the blame. Not every network is the same and there may be a minor setting change that may help.
11 speakers , half of them hardwired with a Synology NAS that responds instantly. iPad, Mac and iPhone apps all work flawlessly.

So I’m willing to bet most of these issues have something to do with a network setting. Most just don’t want to admit that and prefer to join the bashing crowd.
