Something I have noticed is that if you switch to radio you lose your queue.

Same here. Wow, this “new” app has So so, so many issues. What an embarrassment for Sonos. They’ve rolled out a new app that allegedly was supposed to be making our listening experience so much better. But it’s like removing a computer and forcing people to write with animal dye again. Terrible just a terrible terrible app. And we are now three months into it, with so few improvements.
