Until a month ago or so, the iPhone remote app worked wonders. I could both control the Apple TV and adjust the volume, with the side-buttons on the phone.

The Apple TV 4K-remote still controls the volume just fine, but the iPhone app no longer works.

I seem to find a ton of threads with the same problem - or at least sort of. It seems that the Apple TV-remote (not the app) is the main problem. Just not for me. It’s the iPhone Remote-app.

And yes, I’ve tried restarting the Apple TV-remote (holding volume-down and control button for 5 seconds and waiting for restart)...

So this is an Apple problem?

Did you install (or have forced upon you)  any updates to your tv, the iPhone remote app, or any other part of your system about a month ago when your problems started?

@Jakob Steinaa

You need to clarify which app you are referring to:

1. Sonos app

2. Apple TV app for iPhone

If the latter (#2) you need to contact Apple Support

@nik9669a - most likely. The devices auto-update.

@106rallye @AjTrek1 - I don’t really care if it’s an “Apple-problem” or “Sonos-problem”. It’s a problem for me.

You’re quite right, I can contact Apple- or Sonos support, however after some poking around google, it seems neither Apple nor Sonos has a fix, so I was hoping for some community-help.

As per the problem - my iPhone remote app = Apple TV app for iPhone. It is most likely an update from Apple that caused the mishap. However I can’t be the only one in the world with that problem, thus my post.

Why would you want to use the Apple TV App to control the volume if I may ask?

@Jakob Steinaa

From the tone of your response you seem to be insulted that I referenced that your issue appears to be Apple related. Furthermore you should be concerned if it is an Apple or Sonos issue in order to get the proper assistance.

If you go to your PCP complaining about a health issue they may refer you to a specialist. Would you tell your PCP that you don’t really care if it’s an issue best handled by a specialist...it’s a problem for me.

You came to this Sonos Community looking for assistance; that from all indications appears to be an issue with the AppleTV remote that is part of the iPhone OS. Therefore, you received the advice you were looking for which is to contact Apple Support. I suggest you contact Apple Support yourself instead of “poking around google”.

I’ll not be responding further in this post. Good luck to get your issue resolved.

@Peter_254 - it’s convenient. Everything I watch is through the Apple TV. Thus I want to be able to control everything from the one app :-)

@AjTrek1 - I’ve been an avid Apple-user for decades, and in a lot of cases, their products are brilliant. However from time to time an update screws something up - and with decades of experience, I can assure you that they don’t respond to feedback. Therefore there may come an update that fixes everything - or there may not…

I was hoping for someone with the same problem and a solution. I was not insulted by your reference - it just doesn’t help. I was - and am - annoyed by the problem.

Have a nice holiday.

 Good luck sorting the issue (or waiting for Apple to sort it).

I’m with @AjTrek1 though: I’m out.
