A Sonos user would like to disable the hard buttons on his Sonos devices via the Sonos Controller.

For exemple when he is having a party home he want to avoid his friend to modify the volume level or pause the music.

What do you think about it?
Version 7.2 - Speaker Touch Controls

Yes!!!!

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!!!

Carl 🙂
This is a crucial feature after the installation of the playbase. It took our 1 year old about 30 sec to realize the volume could be changed and I would have had to return the playbase if this feature was not available. Thank you Sonos for listening to the community and adapting the ux to the real world. Keep doing what you do!
Would also be very handy when you, like me, have a 1-year-old who has discovered these buttons..
My cat sometimes sits on top of my play:5, starting the music. I don't know how often this happens when I'm not at home or at night. But I totally agree there should be an option to disable the buttons on top. I have never used them anyway 🙂
I just wrote to add the same suggestion but my reason is the bloody cat - it likes to sit on the Play5 and somehow press the buttons in the middle of the night and that plays whatever was queued in that room which is bad enough but worse if it was a radio station as it keeps playing forever so when you are away for a weekend could be annoying for the neighbours.

My workaround is to clear the queue but that is a pain to remember always and an internet radio station isn't in a queue so you have to arse around replacing it with a song so there is a queue then clear that queue, so the cat can sit wherever it wants without waking the house.

So all I would ask for is more control over what the buttons can be allowed to do - nothing, everything, some of it, best of all if it is assignable functionality.
Nope. Still not resolved. I had to cover the buttons by taped down plastic covers. It really is annoying and can't be that hard to fix, right?
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled My cat is turning on my system. My cat is turning on our system by stepping on the pause button, we need a way to delete the service form a room so it wont play when you hit the button on the speaker.

mine does that too, and very innocently but I'm not sure sometimes

yeah, remembering to clear the queue(s) is a pain.  And somethings aren't in queues like a paused internet radio station - so you have to replace that with a song so there is a queue then clear that queue.  Try explaining that to the Mrs who is the one most inconvenienced when the cat is going about its innocent nocturnal activities.
Sonos has already stated that they do not want to allow users to configure button functions (see the long threads about the mute button). Why would they break that rule to accommodate this request?
Right. Now a small sick stray cat that invited himself in thinks there should be some music in the middle of the night so it jumps on a Play 5 and hits Play. Come on Sonos, what's the problem with an extra Prefs setting to switch button functionality off. I can put the white light off, so why not functionality as well.
I don't see any way to do this yet, so I'll add another vote to get functionality to disable the button. The cats turned my Play5 on 4 times since 2am...
With respect to cats, a loud recording of a big dog could be discouraging.
+1, as our 15 month old girl started to "play" with the buttons...
Anybody with children really needs this feature. All UX people make it too easy for toddlers to switch stuff on and off - its too well designed. The buttons just scream "press me" to an inquisitive child.
Also I discovered that my cats have the ability to turn up the sound (and then look at me to solve it)... it would be nice if we could disable the functions. As we can by double clicking can skip to the next song... something must be possible. :?
Glad to hear that other people know how frustrating it is!!

My 3 kids are driving me and the missus crazy.

My 3 kids are driving me and the missus crazy. Also makes them want our phones or iPad to change music if they don't like it.

It's getting hateful now.

Getting wall mounts for the 2 play3s, either that or I may have to physically break the button.
This feature is really needed, for all the reasons stated above. It's a major flaw in the system where children are concerned

In the current Beta.

If you’ve ever needed to prevent pets or kids from pressing buttons on your Sonos devices, that’s now available under Room Settings.

Well, it looks like someone is happy! 😃
Looks like an update for this was just released.
This is just one of several issues that could be resolved by making the button configurable by the user.
Keep dreaming! (Sorry)
I second that, my kids keep turning on the music all the time. Would be really handy feature.
+1 Doesn't take a genus to work out the buttons! Both my kids (age 1 & 3) can now use all 3 buttons whenever they feel like 😞
