I understand you can set auto-updates on the Sonos mobile app. Why can’t you set auto-updates on the controller on your desktop and laptop apps?

Because those operating systems deliberately make installing things harder (eg UAC on Windows), as the Sonos desktop apps are “old-style” and do not run within a security sandbox (unlike the “modern” style of apps on MacOS/Windows that can auto-update).

If you use a “modern” third-party Sonos app (eg mine) then it will auto-update like any Store app.
