I am planning to buy a used Sonos ZP120 to drive a pair of large speakers that I have.  I already have a pair of Sonos One's in another room that I would like to play in sync with the ZP120.
I understand that both the ZP120 and the One's are technology generation S1, so they should be able to be joined together as a Group, right?

The manual for the ZP120: https://content.abt.com/documents/20166/ZP120_Setup_Guide.pdf  page 11, shows a separate hardware Controller device.   Can the S1 Control app on my phone do the same thing as this hardware Controller device?

If the phone app can talk to the ZP120, Will I be able to adjust bass & treble tone controls on the One's without affecting the ZP120?
Does the ZP120 also have the bass & treble tone control feature?

I assume the controller app volume control is a master that affects all systems in the Group. But is there also an option to mute or adjust the volume level in each room separately?

Thanks, in advance!

Both the One and ZonePlayer 120 can be run on the Sonos S1 app. You will be able to control each device/room individually, group them together, and adjust the EQ settings separately for each device.

The separate controlling device waere used when the ZP120 came out, as it existed before smartphones were a common thing.

Are the One’s you already own on S1 or S2 software (“white” app or “brown” app)? If they are on S2 software they need to be reset to play on S1 software.

Be aware that One SL’s can’t be reset to play on S1.

My phone app to control the “One”s that I have is generation S1.
