I used to run a Sonos Arc + sub gen 2 + play:1 surrounds in my home theater room with a 70” bravia 4k tv and I was very happy with the surround sound experience, but not really happy with the music I got from it… The pair of fives in the kitchen/dining space sounded far more full and really pulled me in.
I’ve now moved out of the big house to an apartment. My current plan is to set up a projector for the once a month or so I want to watch a movie, and use an AMP 4.1 setup, since the primary duty will be music.
Question is, what speakers to use for the mains… I don’t like the idea of spending a grand on a system that I won’t be able to tune, so my current thinking is to get some Sonos Architectural wall or ceiling speakers as the mains…
Has anyone here used all three of the in-wall 6.5’s, in-ceiling 6.5’s and in-ceiling 8’s that you could compare and say if you’d recommend any of them for this type of use? Or, should I be looking at floorstanders or bookshelf mains and lose out on the DSP tuning?
