Question

Trying to setup new system from old ZP120 using S1, app doesn't find it.

I moved 6 months ago.  Had a big sonos system in the house and yard.  All old stuff, S1 based.  I sold almost all of it with the house.  But I ended up with 1 ZP120!  So now I’m trying to set it up for my daughter to use in her house.  Downloaded S1 app.  App couldn’t find ZP120.  Did a factory reset on the ZP120.  Looked like that reset worked.  Tried again to add the ZP120 to S1, still can’t find it.  Tried power resets with no luck.  Any help is appreciated?  Seems simple, just the 1 ZP120 and my iPhone12 running S1.  But no luck.  How does the app actually “find” the ZP since the ZP can’t connect to the wifi yet.  I assume some sort of short-range comms?  Whatever it is, it’s not working.  Thanks in advance!

You need to connect it via Ethernet, or use a Boost (or, but only if desperate, a Bridge).

Once set up you can make it Wifi only.

Modern Sonos devices can be configured wirelessly, but not the old stuff.

Thanks for your help.  After a 35 min hold time, I got a support rep to help me.  She tried the direct connect setup.  It also failed.  She asked how “close” I had the ZP120 to my wifi and I said “close, like 20 feet”.  She said needs to be like 3 feet!!!  Seemed odd to me, but we did yet another factory reset, moved it directly next to one of my EERO wifi nodes, (wirelessly, no direct connect), and restarted the process and it worked.  Seems odd to me, but whatever works.
