I recently upgraded 8 of my Sonos devices to “Sonos Amp 2” units.  I also have one Sonos Connect:Amp that was listed as compatible with S2 which I have kept in my system.  After moving everything to S2, and the Coonect:Amp received its firmware update to S2, the Sub Audio controls in the app for the audio level of the 3rd party subwoofer have disappeared.  I have been on the phone with Sonos support, and we tried a bunch of stuff to no avail.  The Subwoofer connected to the jack on the back of this unit is still working, but I have no way to adjust the level.  Has anyone else had this problem, and more to the point, has anyone fixed this problem?

Hi @rosshenning, welcome to the Sonos Community!

The Sub Audio feature is only available to use with a Third Party sub when it is connected to the Sonos Amp, not the Sonos Connect:Amp. You can find this listed on our support article on using a third-party sub with Sonos.

As you need the Amp for the Sub Audio option to show, I’d recommend physically swapping one of your Amps with the Connect:Amp that is connected to the third-party Sub.

I hope this information helps!

Jamie,

do you know why this functionality was removed from the Connect; amp with the upgrade to S2?  That doesn’t make any sense at all.  If you have a subwoofer output, why would you remove the ability to control the level?

As for the “solution”, all of my Amps are connected to subs, so swapping is not an option.

Hi @rosshenning,

Currently, the “Sub Audio” feature will be displayed with a Sonos Amp whilst in use with a Sonos Sub or third-party Subwoofer, whilst the Sonos Connect:Amp does not support this functionality at this time. The feature has been removed from the Sonos S2 app and should also be removed from the Sonos S1.

I’m not sure myself on how exactly this feature interacted with the Connect:Amp, but I’d be happy to mark this thread as a feature request to pass along to the relevant teams.

I hope this helps!

Hi Jamie,

The feature used to work exactly the same way it does with the Amp 2.  It’s very simple...if an external third part sub is plugged in to the sub out port, a level control is added to the settings for the connect:amp in the same area where the EQ settings are.  It’s beyond me why they removed it as it’s pretty basic and a standard feature on pretty much every piece of gear I’ve ever had that had a subwoofer output (Including the Connect:amp before I moved it to S2).

Yes, please do pass it along to the teams as I need this feature back.  It would make me no longer regret my upgrade purchase of Sonos Amp2’s.

Thank you,

Ross Henning

Not to derail your complaint about the sub audio controls, but there is no such thing as an “Amp 2”.  There is just the Sonos Amp, replacement for the Connect:Amp
