Hello,

My Sonos Play 3 has out of nowhere just stopped working, does not power on at all, no lights. Was working fine throughout christmas. Annoying.

Just spoke to someone on the chat and advised it was a power on failure?

Is this a common fault? As my brothers Play 1 experienced the same thing?

I wasnt given much help apart from 15% off via the upgrade progamme.

But i wouldnt expect a product like this to have such a short life span. If this suddenly happened with the rest of my sonos system this would be a very expensive upgrade.

Is there any other options available or a repair?

Hope you can help

Thanks

You will have a very difficult time finding someone who can repair your speaker. Most people in your situation will purchase a used Play:3 on eBay or use the upgrade discount to purchase a new speaker like a Sonos Move or Five.

The Play:3 is an older speaker released over 10 years ago and was discontinued in 2018. So I recommend upgrading. The Move and Five are two great options that sound much better than the Play:3. A pair of Ones would be a good option too. If you are still running the S1 app, look for a Play:5 (Gen 2) rather than a Five.

I’d go with a gently used Play 3 replacement or consider moving it to where mono sound would be good (kitchen, garage) and adding a pair of Ones or One SLs if you don’t need voice.

My Play 3s have migrated down the audio chain to the point they are out of sight in a dining room that gets used twice a year, they aren’t normally powered on. Displaced by One SLs that have a higher spousal approval rating.
