The Sonos software on my Mac can’t find my system, although the Sonos app can find it.

I haven’t changed my router or firewall.

System: MacBook Pro running most recent version of Catalina

I’m going to answer my own question because I couldn’t find the answer here.  The change that I made to my network was my recently installed VPN software.  Once I deactivated my VPN, it solved the problem.  Not sure how to use my Sonos software while running a VPN, but at last I know that was the issue.

Hope this helps someone else.

Sonos’ actual software runs on the speakers, outside of the PC. The application you run is essentially a display layer for the actual system running on the computers in the speakers. When that system attempts to ‘contact’ the PC, it is considered an outside source by the VPN, and gets blocked.
