I have 5.1 in ceiling/wall speakers wired to an HK Receiver (NO ARC FUNCITIONALITY).  I have my LG TV connected via Optical to the receiver.  I want to connect the SONOS CONNECT to the receiver and play music or the TV without toggling outputs on the receiver.

Can I route TV through SONOS CONNECT so that I can play either TV or music?

No, you cannot.  For one, the Connect Line-In is only stereo, you would lose surround sound.   And two, the Line-In  is delayed by 75 ms for buffering, which would cause lip sync problems when watching TV.

If I had a receiver with HDMI ARC connection, would this be possible?

No.  Anything Sonos sells with an ARC connection is meant to replace a receiver, not connect with one.
