My settings are: My Sonos connect is connected to a device/connecter which again connects to my #1 Yamaha Amplifier, (connected to my loudspeakers) as well as- via an optical cable, to my former #2 Samsung Smart Tv. TV Sound was played on my loudspeakers. 8 days ago I installed a new Samsung TV The Frame 2021, which ran smoothly. Without having touched any cables, the TV sound went missing to 1 loudspeaker, later to the 2nd. Sonos/spotify runs as usual/no problems. Was on Samsung Helpdesk who couldn’t help. Samsung Tv appears to have a signal for it’s TV loudspeaker and optical. I conclude: Samsung does not support the connection path to Sonos by optical cable. Tried testing by new optical cable. No result. How do I get sound back in my great loudspeakers via the Sonos connect?
Hi. Sorry, but I'm confused. You mention the Amp and (I think) the Connect. Neither of these products has an optical input so I am not sure what is connected to what here and what you are trying to achieve. Would you please clarify?
Sorry, I'm a novice in this area. it’s a Sonos Connect! (10 years old). Sonos, my Yamaha amplifier and Samsung Tv all connected via a little transmitter by cables from these 3. The audio connection from TV to Yamaha speakers, was by optical cable from Tv to transmitter. Does it clarify? Thanks for your time.
Correction: Sonos Connect (not Amp) connects to device/transmitter which also connects to Yamaha Amplifier, (connected to my loudspeakers) as well as to - via an optical cable, to my former Samsung Smart Tv. Hence TV Sound played on my loudspeakers. 8 days ago I installed a new Samsung TV The Frame 2021: Ran smoothly. Then the TV sound lost connection to loudspeakers. Sonos/Spotify runs as usual/no problems. Was on Samsung Helpdesk who couldn’t help as Tv appears to have a signal for it’s TV loudspeaker and optical. Tried testing by new optical cable. No result. How do I get sound back into my loudspeakers via the Sonos connect?
The Connect doesn’t have an optical input, so there is no way for it to be connected to your TV in any way. The TV optical out should be connected to the Yamaha via optical in.
You will probably find the solution lies in the audio output settings of your TV. For a start, have you set optical as the audio output?
The optical cable goes from TV to the transmitter. (T) T is connected to Yamaha amp. I might misunderstand that TV sound doesn’t involve Sonos? It’s difficult to see the connections due to installation behind a furniture. I tested (also with Helpdesk) configurations of output settings on TV. Tomorrow I’ll go to my Audio shop who installed devices to get (correct) info. Will be back here.
The 'transmitter' is probably a switch, with the Connect and your television as completely separate inputs. The Connect is not used for your TV sound.
Tried new optical cable, and to swap cables around on the converter. No change. Had then specialists who decided, that it’s the optical port which doesn’t work. Case closed on this site, as Sonos isn’t part of this error. Samsung is the problem, and that has so far proven real difficult to get through with them. Thank you for time taken for your comments
