Problems connecting NAS to a Sonos Port Streamer

I have just replaced my failing Sonos Connect with a Sonos Port and updated the Sonos App to S2 on all my devices.

I cannot make the Sonos Port add the NAS music folder to its music library.

I assume the issue is with the NAS configuration!

But the Sonos Connect worked for many years so the Port should!

Would anybody have any ideas?

NAS is QNAP TS-119P+        QTS 4.3.3.2211 build 20221124      system port 8080

The NAS has a static IP of 192.168.0.250

The Sonos Port is connected via an ethernet cable not WiFi.

The music is at     \\192.168.0.250\Multimedia\Music

I have the Sonos S2 App on;

a windows 10 laptop fully updated

iPad pro,

Android phone,

I have been reading pages on the net and in this forum.

SMB comes up a lot but...

I can't find any mention of SMB in the QNAP software.

in the NETWORK & FILE SERVICES section under Win/Mac/Nfs

Enable files services is checked,

Standalone serve is selected

under advanced options

there is no SMB box to tick

   enable wins server is ticked

  local master browser is ticked

If I use my Windows 10 laptop and the Sonos S2 App.

I can play Sonos Radio from the internet ok.

I can play local files from my phone to the Sonos Port ok.

I can play local files from my PC to the Sonos Port ok.

I can stream from Spotify ok.

I can play music using my iPad and android phone.

So I have it wired up ok.

I just can add the music folder on my NAS drive to the Sonos music library

This was working when the Sonos Connect was working about 3 months ago

But It started to drop audio bit and after a while it just got worse until It wouldn’t work at all, so I thought I would upgrade to the Port.

In the Sonos S2 App I can navigate all the way through the folders on the NAS (so it is seeing the NAS and the file structure) but if I try to play a music file from the NAS in the Sonos App I get a 701 error messages

If I go into the add music library option in the Sonos S2 App I can't see the NAS when I use the browse option.

If I type the address in by hand \\192.168.0.250\Multimedia\Music

(the NAS has a static IP of 192.168.0.250)

I get a message that it can't connect and info about server stack

I followed the link and added the key in the windowes registry etc.

but still no joy.

I was not expecting the stack fix to work as I can't add the music library using my iPad or my android phone which are obviously not windows based.

I assume the issue is with the NAS configuration!

it's only my assumption mind you. I’m a bit confused now and a bis (lot) disappointed.

would anyone have any thought please.

thanks

Having the same issue, but came across this post (LINK) which may be useful insight.

Still waiting for more clarity. I can navigate to albums and see songs, can see library search results but get a 1002 error every time i try and play a library song. Sonos app then hangs for a bit, and have to wait a while before i can clear the queue.

thanks for the link, i will go and have a read.

It should be easier than this.

maybe it’s a nas problem but the sonons people only work opening hours so i can’t get their help.
