PC app can not see Sonos system after router change

I can see the speakers on the network from my PC with file explorer- so WiFi networking side of things is fine. I can also Ping them from my PC.

The speakers set up OK on the new network and work fine with my iPhone using my iPhone music library but when I try to use my main music library (on my PC) the app on the phone cant connect to that library.

I have done all the usual shut down and power up in sequence things but no change. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the S2 app on the PC but that makes no difference.

I have tried connecting a speaker directly to the router. No difference.

I have to say - the S2 PC app is not really very helpful when there’s a problem. There is no network diagnostics/analysis just the option to Try Again……

Hi @martnidiggins, welcome to the Sonos Community!

If you’re using a new network, it’s quite likely (if you’re using a Windows computer) that the network profile is set to Public - in this case, you’ll want to change it to Private, which will allow connections with other devices on the network, such as Sonos.

You can find out here how to change the Windows network profile to Private.

Let us know if this helps :)

Your description is a little confused: you say the phone cant connect to the PC library, but you also say the PC app cannot find any speakers which means you cannot have set the PC library up anyway?

You can always try my Windowsapp (see profile) and send me a diagnostic. They are not as detailed as those that Sonos have access to, but they can diagnose the most common issues.

The OP claims that ping works and that Explorer shows the devices, so it does not sound like the normal Public/Private WiFi problem. And Xander, please ask Engineering to actually add a check in the code for this so a decent error message can be given to users.

Weirdly, it was the Public/Private problem ! Just checked the NW setting and it was set to Public. I changed it to Private the PC app “found” the system. However, it could not see the folder on the PC where the library (My Music) so I had to delete and reconnect that and then update library and then all was fine. Thanks.
