I have a AMP with 2 speakers attached. The overall sound is not good for me as the equalizer is too poor. To have an acceptable sound i push the 2 levels at max … For such an expensive device it is a bit disapointing.

To overcome this issue I would like to have an active equalizer between source and the Sonos AMP.

I have found 2 options and your feedback would be greatly appreciated before shopping:

Option 1 (expensive): i buy a Sonos Port and a EQ901 Equalizer from Deer Creek Audio. Setup would be:

Sonos Port out → EQ901 → in Sonos AMP → speakers. I would manage music from the Port and the active equalizer from EQ901.

Option 2: I buy an Bluesound Node Nano and the setup would be:

Bluesound Node Nano → in Sonos AMP → speakers. I would manage music from my iphone via Airplay 2 (AM in lossless most of my usage way) and use the equalizer from the Bluesound.

Makes sense ? Thank you in advance.

You did not say what model speakers you are using with the Amp.

Are they bookshelf speakers? Floorstanding speakers?

Where are the speakers? Indoors? Outdoors?

All components play a part on audio reproduction, so more information would help find a solution before you invest in more equipment.

These are 2 indoor three-way, floor-standing, dual-woofer speaker Saovo from Yamaha. Thank you

That’s an odd one - what is the music source?

I don’t think any of the music that I play would be tolerable with Bass and Treble turned up to the maximum on the graphic equaliser within Sonos - it would simply be too much in my system (for example the bass would be like thunder at any sort of volume). It makes me think that perhaps there is some other problem in your setup. Is it possible that you have the speakers connected with opposite phase?

Agree it odd. Phase are connected correctly. I’m surprised as well to push up at max and it still not sufficient for the trembles…Surprised that there is only tremble and bass and nothing for the mids.
My source for now is Apple Music, Spotify and Airplay from my phone (lossless Apple Music.
On the Sonos loudspeakers I have no issues. It just with AMP

What impedance, and power requirements do these speakers have? I’m wondering if there is some sort of mismatch between the Sonos Amp and the requirements of these speakers.

IMPEDANCE 6 OHMS

NOMINAL INPUT 50 WATTS

MAXIMUM INPUT 200 WATTS

good point though

But not good enough, I fear. Was just a thought. ;)

Although, just to be clear, we are talking about a Sonos Amp, and not a Sonos CONNECT:AMP? The latter certainly doesn’t have the power, the former does.

Yes We are talking about the Sonos  AMP, latest one not the connect one

How recent are the speakers? Do you know their history?

If you haven’t already done so, I would connect a separate (non-Sonos) amplifier to them and see if they sound correct. Another suspect could be damaged components in the speaker’s crossovers or (heaven forbid) blown drivers in the speakers. I have had that happen to a pair of ATC floorstanding speakers with an amplifier (not Sonos) that put one power supply rail’s worth of DC across the speakers. Result: it made almost no noise, but two blown bass drivers. It was expensive to fix!
