Hi! I have a question about the connection of Sonos Sub gen 3 with the Sonos Amp.

I have a pair of Architectural In-Ceiling Speakers by Sonos install in my kitchen and they are connected to a Sonos Amp with speaker wire.

I want to add the Sonos Sub gen 3 to this setup.

Can I connect the sub with an Ethernet cable instead of using the RCA cable.

  • 1: Ethernet cable from the sub to the rooter.

Or

  • 2: Ethernet cable form the sub to the Sonos Amp.

I understand that the Sonos Amp need to be connected as well by an Ethernet cable on my rooter.

Thank you for your knowledge.

Your choice -- or you could leave SUB wireless.

Ok, it’s because the Sonos amp is far away on another floor.

but it will work by Ethernet by connecting the sub in the rooter or in the Amp ?

As you mentioned, you really don’t want to connect just the Sub to Ethernet, that has been mentioned as a source of problems here.

I’d try it wireless as a first option and if you find that there are connection problems then wire the Amp and try it again, then if needed try wiring the Sub also.

You could connect the Sub to the Amp’s second port or to your router, whichever is easier.
