Hello everyone,

 

I moved into a new house which has ceiling speakers in most rooms.  I think 8 rooms in total.  I have used Sonos for 18 years so I want to continue to do so.  All of the speakers are cabled back to one server room.  DO I need to purchase an amp for each zone that I want to control?  Or is there a more economical way around this?

 

Also what is the maximum distance from Amp to speaker allowed?

One Amp for each independent zone, if you want two to play the same stream you can use one Amp.

If you only want a few zones you could use a Port for each zone and an external amplifier.

No real maximum distance, just use larger wire to keep the voltage drop in the suggested range.
