Hello, I have just purchased a property that has two in ceiling speakers. What do I need to get the speakers working?

There are also a set of wires coming from a cupboard nearby which I believe are for the speakers.

The Sonos Amp is used to power 3rd party passive speakers.

Hard to tell, visually, exactly what kind of speakers these are, in terms of specs, or even if they’re self powered, or need an external Amp. In most cases, a Sonos Amp would be the device you need, if they’re unpowered, and either 4 or 8 Ohm speakers. Things get odd, if they’re determined to be non-standard.

Thank you. I think they are these ones;

Is it possible to connect them to a TV? I currently have Beam connected to the TV. Or does the Amp need to be hard wired to connect to the in ceiling speakers

If you connect them to a Sonos Amp, then they could be used as surround speakers, as listed in the setting up Amp or CONNECT:AMP as surround speakers FAQ.

Most denizens of this forum tend not to suggest ceiling speakers as surrounds, but some people seem to be fine with them. For me, it’s odd to have stuff that’s supposed to be behind me coming from above me.

Thanks. Yes, it was more a question of whether it’s possible. I think we would just like to have them working for music.

Is this what’s needed?
