I’ve moved into a new building and I’m having bandwidth issues. “Supposedly” these issues may be arising from conflicts between the 2.4 and 5.0 MHz radios. I am considering asking that the 2.4MHz radio be eliminated. (This is not ‘my’ modem/router so I cannot do that myself.)

My System does have a wired playbase and all the other speakers are wireless.

So, can I eliminate the 2.4MHz radio without Sonos issues?

Thanks!

@nealperkins, Since your system is running on SonosNet -- yes, it’s possible to eliminate the 2.4 GHz frequency band.

That’s GHz, btw… but I have no idea what such conflicts might be - can you shed any light?

You are right, thanks for the correction.

I did read that about the Sonos ‘dedicated’ and totally separate network. Sounded pretty good…

But, when I ask these guys to turn off 2.4 GHz (more or less permanently) I want to be reasonably sure.

BTW, I was told this by a guy who was struggling to answer why I was having so very many difficulties with my less than paid for bandwidth. He offered up that 5.0 was much more stable than the 2.4 band and that if I had both...a conflict could deteriorate my performance.

So far, I ‘think’ I understand that my Sonos, Ecobee, Smartthings can all be quite happy with 5.0.

Please correct that if wrong!!!

Thanks so much!
