Hi, going through some renovations and need to consider where to locate the amp. Will the amp work if it is placed in a cupboard? Or does it need to be open to be able to link to the app etc?

The Amp can be reached via wifi or you can cable connect it to your network. No need for a line of sight to the phone your app is on. It cannot be to far from a Sub it is commanding though (for that it uses a 5Ghz wifi link).

I’m anal about network wiring. While remodeling, run wires to all fixed locations, such as TV’s, PC’s, wireless access points, SONOS, cameras, etc. I also recommend running fiber to high bandwidth locations such as computers and TV’s. The fiber will likely be “dark” for a while, but you’ll love it later.
