That seems odd. Have you submitted a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and called Sonos Support to discuss it?
I was paying for Rhapsody years back and they suddenly rebranded to Napster.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napster_(streaming_service)
Did a quick search and found nothing similar mentioned today.
Hello SONOS??? Can you please tell us why Pandora is now Napster?
I get the same thing today, playing my Pandora favorites, when I look, it shows "Christmas Music on Napster" instead of on Pandora.
Nothing is broken, music is still playing, but it got me googling if Napster took over Pandora, and I stumbled on this thread.
Sonos won't likely have anyone here to respond until Monday sometime.
I’m getting Napster on IOS devices and still showing Pandora on windows app.
I am paying for premium streaming from Pandora. I doubt I am getting that playback via Sonos. The audio direct from Pandora in my car sounds cleaner and better.
I am signed up with Napster but at a basic level with lower bit rate streaming.
What is going on Sonos?
Diagnostics? Hilarious it’s a global thing. I can tell you when I play X radio using Alexa The algorithm is different than when I play it on Sonos with the Napster logo. Fact
But how can the programmer assigned to the issue reproduce the issue at their desk, if there’s some odd configuration issue at the user’s end? Wouldn’t providing hard data help the fix being worked on?
Odd config ? No one has changed anything. How about someone who DOESN'T see napster when they choose a pandora station using sonos chime in ?
FWIW, I have both Pandora and Napster, and I don’t see any Napster references when playing Pandora stations. I’ve checked both my Android and desktop (PC) apps. On the other hand, I can barely get Napster to play at all, which is how I found this thread… I’ll trade you problems! ;)
Have either of you submitted a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and called Sonos Support to discuss it? Or were you depending on this community to fix your issues?
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
Getting the same issue. All plays fine, seems like my “thumbs up” record is in tact, but it shows as playing on Napster (don’t even have a Napster account) rather than on Pandora as it always has - at least on my iOS app.
What did Sonos support say, when you submitted that diagnostic, and called in? I’m really curious as to what might be causing this, as it makes no sense to me.
To be honest, I’ve had so many issues with the Sonos app this past year or so (even before the new app debacle) that I’ve grown accustomed to it not working properly all the time. This sounds bad, but it genuinely didn’t occur to me that contacting Sonos would get my issues resolved, considering how many they were dealing with already. I figured my best bet was googling the issue and hoping someone had a resolution. However, I will try both suggestions tomorrow - submitting diagnostics and calling Support. Thank you!
If we users could see all the internal data Sonos Support can it would make life easier for a few of us and confuse a lot more. The call is worth the aggravation when all else has failed.
I called to see if this puzzle had any solution. Two hours later, 6 system diagnostics, and numerous rebootings of everything and deleting and reinstalling controllers, & deleting Napster, there was no solution except to give the problem to Level 2 support. They only communicate by email at Level 2. So it seems that Sonos was unaware of the issue and I needed to convince them that it wasn’t at the consumer end. All that was said was they thought it might be visual error.
All that was said was they thought it might be visual error.
If by “visual error” they mean a display error, that would make sense since everything else seems to be functioning properly. But if they are saying we’re imagining that we’re seeing things then I think there’s a whole forum full of us ready to argue.
Thanks for taking one for the team and suffering through the slog of the initial call.
The young man I spoke with said “visual error”. Maybe I should call the eye doctor for an exam. Can’t wait to hear what “Level 2” might diagnose.
Just so everyone understands what I am talking about, here is a screenshot. Note that it says “Liquid Mind Radio on Napster”. Napster is not configured as a service on my setup, and the station was selected from my Pandora stations list.
I would also note that now the Pandora logo has been replaced with something that looks like a piece of graph paper in my list of sources (aka, Browse). This is new since the “we’ll just display Pandora as Napster” problem first emerged. Not sure if it’s the result of an attempted (but failed) fix or continued work to intentionally sideline Pandora, but it seems some type of work is in process.
Hi
Thanks for reporting on this and for the details and screenshot.
I asked our engineers to look into this as I don’t have access to Pandora but they weren’t able to replicate the issue, so I’ll need some more information.
Are you able to re-create this issue or is it intermittent? If you can re-create it, a video or recording of the process would be appreciated. It would also be good to know if this occurs with specific stations or all Pandora stations. If this occurs again, please submit a diagnostics and I’ll record these to forward to the team.
Our engineers are still testing this themselves, but any additional details or information from you can help with the process.
I do not have the issue with Sirius, Amazon, or Spotify. Only Pandora.

Thank you for your reply, Jamie. Here is some additional information:
I am seeing this issue on my iOS app (iPad and iPhone), but not on the Sonos app running on my Windows 10 workstation. Both mobile devices are running the latest iOS versions. I have a Sonos S1 configuration consisting of a Port and a Connect.
As far as re-creating the issue, the “on Napster” appears whenever I play ANY Pandora station. I don’t do anything special to make it appear. I do not have Napster configured as a streaming service on Sonos.
I have submitted diagnostics number ********* from my iPad.
Moderator Note: Recorded and removed diagnostics number.

Thanks for testing this out. It’s interesting to note that it’s only showing on your iOS devices. On your Windows computer, are you using the desktop controller, web app, or both? It would be good to know if this is isolated to mobile devices, or even iOS only.
I’ll check with our engineers what devices they were using to test, as this may not occur on Android controllers.

Regarding when the app says “on Napster”, does this cause any issues besides the text showing the wrong service? It was mentioned earlier, but it’s possible that it is a visual error and should hopefully be an easy fix.
