Hello,

I am actually building my new house, and planning its sound system.

I plan to use an Amp linked to the TV as input, and obviously some speakers. I already own a NAS (Synology 216 Play) which stores my movies and music.
As I understand, I might be able to use the Amp as output for my music library inside the NAS, using the S2 app?

But here is another question that I cannot answer for now : my family has gifted us an Amazon Echo (we do not have it yet thanks to the lockdown), can I use it with the Sonos S2 app? It seems that the Amazon Alexa app cannot use the NAS as a library (not directly), and as I plan to pilot everything with the S2 app, it would be nice to keep this Echo speaker.

thanks a lot for your tips!

Regarding the use of a NAS with Sonos, perhaps see this support document:

The echo device can be used to voice control Sonos for switching the connected TV on/off and adjusting volume and for music playback and control. For more details see these links:

Hello Ken, thanks for the links.

I have already see these pages, it is clear that the Amazon Echo products can drive Sonos speakers. Amazon -> Sonos is OK

But as I said, Amazon Alexa is not compatible with the NAS music libraries (contrary to Sonos S2), so my question is can we go Sonos S2 → Amazon Echo?

No, the S2 App is a remote and will only output/control audio to Sonos devices, but if your NAS supports a upnp Media server, or you have such a server on your home network then use that instead…

See this link:

And some NAS boxes have Alexa skills that might allow playback of some music audio libraries to an echo device. See this example with a synology NAS box

There’s usually a workaround out there for these things.🤞
