LG, Simplink, and Sonos Beam

My setup is a Sonos Beam connected via HDMI to the HDMI ARC port of the LG TV. I also have a Verizon Set top box connected to the TV via another HDMI port. Alexa voice activation has been activated.
Simplink is active, but displays on the LG menu as being associated with the cable box port. I am able to control volume, switch to music sources and switch back to TV via Alexa voice command, but I am not able to turn the TV on or off.
So I'm not really sure what is happening, but I'm no sure how or if I can get the on/off function to work. any suggestions? thanks.

If the Verizon box has CEC controls you may be able to turn them off n settings. If not you could look for CEC less adapter on Amazon, which you plug in to the cable to stop CEC working on the set top box
