Sonos Amp speaker switch for 3 pairs of architectural speakers

Hi,

I have purchased a Sonos Amp along with 2 x in-ceiling speakers from the sonos (sonance) architectural range. As the Sonos Amp can play 3 architectural devices at the same time, i was considering buying the outdoor Sonos (sonance) architectural speakers to also link to the Amp.

Question is, can i buy a speaker switch that will allow me to turn off the outdoor speakers when we are just indoors, turn them all on, and then just the outdoor speakers for outdoor use?

Ive read that this audioflow 3 zone speaker could do the trick but just wondered if anyone else had done the same set up? Or something different that also works?

I also want to know if its possible to do trueplay for the 2 pair of in-ceiling speakers even if they go through the speaker switch?

Any thoughts and comments would be much appreciated.

Hi @chris.j.jones01, welcome to the Sonos Community!

Just to clarify, you can connect up to three pairs of Sonance architectural speakers to a Sonos Amp, rather than 3 single speakers.

A speaker switch should work for this - no specific models I can recommend as I don’t have any personal experience I’m afraid, however I’m sure some other members of the Community will be able to share their own findings :)

Regarding TruePlay, I can’t say for certain, but I’m not sure that this would work - the Sonos Amp may not be able to identify that they are Sonance speakers unless they are connected directly to the Amp.

Ive spoken to a few different AV specialists and they have all said its possible i can have 3 pairs of sonos speakers attached to the AMP via the aforementioned speaker switch. My next problem is will i have sound quality issues going via the speaker switch to the amp instead of each speaker going directly to the amp?

Also, it seems the trueplay will still work as it is just pushing sound through the speaker and the phone is picking up the distance etc..

Any help would be much appreciated. I already have a move and working out if its worth adding the outdoor speakers or just taking my move outside?

I was debating doing the exact same thing. Did you try it out @chris.j.jones01?
