Mac sound output switch

I use a stereo pair of Sonos Move and an iMac with Catalina OS running

When I switch from Spotify to Youtube, I have to change the sound output each time.
Meaning this:

  • when I play spotify, I have to look for the Sonos output within Spotify. Which changes my Mac sound output to iMac Speakers
  • When I now want to play a Youtube video, I have to change my Mac sound output to SOnos and in the process lose the Spotify connection

Where do you think the problem is coming from ?

Hi @YoannakaYoann, welcome to the community.

 

This sounds like it’s behaving as designed. When you start a connection with Spotify you’re using their Spotify Connect protocol, when you switch to YouTube you’re using Apple Airplay 2. These are essentially two different connections so you would need to manually switch between them whenever changing sources. Hope this clears things up!
