Sonos Community,

would love some advice, I want to add Sonos to my home and build, would love input on how many amps I would require and speaker choice.

i was thinking, in the living room have the new Sonos Arc and Sub moving to the kitchen and dining having a ceiling mounted speaker in each and for the outdoor room Having a speaker above the living room window looking at the outdoor space and another above the other window looking towards the pool.

Hi

In the diagram below I suggest the following:

Living Room

  • Arc Ultra *
  • Sub 4

Dining Option 1 **

  • Amp with Sonos In-Ceiling speakers by Sonance X 2 (Yellow Circles)

Kitchen Option 1 **

  • Amp with Sonos In-Ceiling speakers by Sonance X 2 (Yellow Circles)

Kitchen / Dining Option 2 ***

  • Amp with Sonos In-Ceiling speakers by Sonance X 2 (Red Circles)

 * Sub 4 may not be necessary with Arc Ultra according to recent reviews so try it both ways for music and movies. However, for my taste I always prefer a sub. Let your ears be the judge. Additionally, I’m not convinced you require In-ceiling speakers in the living room above the widows as the Arc Ultra will probably suffice for music. Is there a particular reason you want speakers above the windows?

** Option 1 for Kitchen and Dining could require two (2) Amps (one for each pair of speakers if wanting stereo with unique control for each. You could also use ONE Amp with four speakers.  Would recommend a wall mounted volume control for each pair of speakers with either Amp option.

*** Option 2 for Kitchen and Dining requires only One Amp. Recommend wall mounted control for each speaker. Recommend setting the output Mono given the distance apart as stereo setting might sound a bit off.

Edit: By chance would the speakers above the living room windows be on the outside? As that wasn’t clear in your post. If so I would recommend an Amp with Sonos Outdoor speakers by Sonance.

I would probably put speakers to the outside of what shows as outside room facing toward the ppol

I’d seriously consider a pair of Era 300s on the back wall of the TV room. Aside from adding a lot to the TV experience you could also use them when streaming music, set to Full mode for parties and Ambient mode for listening from the seating.

Given the fairly large room size and the effort needed if your speakers are not filling the space I’d also go with a pair of the 8 inch ones in both kitchen and dining areas.

Depending on the time you spend there maybe a single Era 100 in the laundry and scullery rooms too.
