Hi,

I have a Sonos Wave 2 which I control using the Android App on my phone or, as is my preference, the Windows App loaded on my PC.  My brother who is in the same household, has a Sonos Roam which he controls using Alexa (I do not use Alexa).  We are on the same wifi network.

When I am listening to music, if my brother turns on his speaker, the Windows App shows his account details.  I can see his speaker and his music etc even though what is playing is what I had selected (and I can still control via the Android App on my phone).  Effectively, when my brother uses his Roam, the Windows App ceases to enable me to control my Wave 2 as I can see no way to switch from his system back to my own.

I am aware that sharing the same wifi network will mean I can see his system but there must be some way that I can either block his Roam from taking over my Windows App or at least being able to switch from his speaker back to my own.  I have just uninstalled the Windows App and reconnected my speaker to see if this solves the problem as I could see no other way to reconnect to my Wave 2 (I even restarted my PC - made no difference).  This seems to be working for now but not sure this is a permanent fix.

For clarity, do you mean Move 2 rather than Wave 2?

So in the list of speakers in the app, does your Move disappear when he starts playing on his speaker? Aren’t all of your combined speakers just listed on the left, or do you both have different Sonos accounts? 


There is no list of speakers in the Windows App.  It just shows either my speaker (Move 2) with my details and playlist or my brothers Roam which is his own separate account.

When his account is on display, I can’t see my Move 2 or my account at all.  So there is no way I can delete or revert to my account.

Sorry to hear you’re having this issue, it’s a bit strange that the app is going over to your brothers Roam instead of staying on your system, although I am glad to head re-installing the app has fixed this and I do think that it will permanently do so.

My suggestion would have been to Forget the system from the Sonos app. This is the simplest way to get rid of the connection to your brothers system. You could also Reset the Sonos app. This basically acts as if you had just installed the app and would request you create or join a system. The last option would be to re-install the app, as; forgetting the system, resetting the app, or re-installing in your case, would make the app forget about the system(s) it was connected to without making you go through the setup process again.

If you’re connected now, you shouldn’t jump over to your brothers system as the app doesn’t have those detailed saved. You can always test if it does still happen and, if it does, try the Forget System option instead.
