Hi,

I have an existing wired speaker system as well as a number of Sonos speakers around my home. I just purchased a Denon AVR-S770H and am having trouble getting my wired speakers and wireless speakers to work together.

I set up a number of wired speakers in another room to Zone 2 on my receiver. I have a Sonos Port plugged into my AVR using RCA jacks for the ‘out’ and tried both Phono (I read not to use this) and digital inputs into the AVR.

My Sonos Port

When I try to play Spotify through Zone 2 with the HEOS app, I only get the wired speakers. When I try to play Spotify through the Sonos app, I only get the Sonos speakers. I can’t figure out a way to get them both to play at the same time. I also don’t know which app (Denon, HEOS or Sonos) I need to make this happen. Many of the instructions online have not worked for me. All components seem to be working fine except for this issue. Also, once complete, which program should I be playing music through? I imagine the HEOS, but not sure. I also can’t seem to adjust the volume in Zone 2. But my big issue is getting my Sonos speakers and sub-woofer to work with my wired speakers. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

The Denon AVR-S770H has a Cable/SAT in and a Media Player RCA inputs that are assignable. You can also use the Cable/SAT digital output to connect to the Port. Use one of those and configure it to play to the zones you want the audio to play through.

For the Heos app into Sonos, there is not a usable output for you to use on the receiver.

PORT is connected to a receiver as if PORT is a cassette deck. Unfortunately this receiver does not support a ‘record’ function and sources playing on the receiver are not available to PORT.

You must select the source that PORT will send to the receiver. If you “Group” your SONOS “Rooms” (port is just a Room) you can play the same content in multiple Rooms.
