Available on June 10th, Sonos Arc is the premium smart soundbar for TV, movies, music, gaming, and more. Arc brings brilliant surround sound in 3D, along with immersive music, elegant design, and voice control built in. Experience shows, films, and games with the precise and immersive sound of Dolby Atmos, and enjoy incredible sound streaming music, podcasts, and audiobooks.

Extraordinary sound meets elegant design

Eleven high-performance drivers, including custom elliptical woofers and precisely angled side tweeters, produce vivid detail and impressive bass for home cinema and music streaming. Arc's upward-firing drivers create a multi-dimensional soundstage that moves around you, rendering every whisper and explosion with dramatic clarity, detail, and depth.

With its elongated shape, soft profile, and seamless façade, Arc discreetly mounts to the wall or sits beneath the TV without pulling focus. When mounted, a magnetic sensor detects the orientation and smartly adjusts the EQ to temper bass resonance.

Arc’s sound was specially tuned with the help of Oscar-winning sound engineers to emphasize the human voice so you can always follow the story. The advanced processing creates five phased-array channels that masterfully deliver sound to your ears from all directions at the exact right moment. Use enhanced Trueplay tuning technology to optimize the sound for the unique acoustics of your room, even calibrating the height channels for precise localization.

You can also make a surround sound setup with a pair of our surround capable Sonos speakers, such as a pair of Sonos Ones, or amplify it all with a Sub for an extraordinary surround experience.

Some more details on Sonos Arc:

  • Simple to set-up. Plug Arc into power and then connect it to your TV using the HDMI-ARC cord. Bring your phone up to Arc to automatically pair and securely transfer WiFi credentials using near-field communication (NFC).

  • HDMI eARC. Increased bandwidth supports high-quality audio and has lip-sync compensation built in.

  • Dolby Atmos. Play Atmos and Atmos-encoded audio to play from your collection and favorite services through your TV’s HDMI ARC or eARC connection.

  • Ambient light sensor. Arc detects how bright the room is and automatically adjusts the brightness of the LEDs to be visible but not distracting.

  • Automatic remote sync. Arc connects to your TV's HDMI eARC port with a single cable and automatically syncs with your remote.

  • Control your way. Control Sonos Arc with your voice, the Sonos app, your existing TV remote, your favorite music service’s app, or AirPlay 2. Capacitive touch controls for play, pause, skip tracks, adjust the volume, and group rooms just by tapping or swiping the top of the soundbar. LED indicates status, mute status and voice feedback.

  • Smart voice recognition. A four far-field microphone array used for advanced beamforming and multichannel echo cancellation makes sure you’re heard, even when the music is blasting, even when playing in immersive surround sound. For privacy, turn the microphone off with a tap. The LED light is hardwired and will always indicate if the microphones are enabled or if your voice assistant of choice isn't listening.

  • Optimized for your listening. From within the Sonos App, tap Speech Enhancement so you never miss a word, or Night Sound to amplify quiet noises and reduce loud ones so you can enjoy late night TV without waking the entire house.

  • Tune with Trueplay. Trueplay puts the speaker-tuning capability of the pros in the palm of your hands, adapting and optimising the sound of the speaker to the unique acoustics of the room. iOS device required.

  • Low profile and compact size. The dimensions are 3.4 x 45 x 4.5 inches (87 x 1141.7 x 115.7 mm) H x W x D and Arc weighs 13.78 lbs (6.25 kg).

Pre-order today on Sonos.com in stunning black with matte finish or white with matte finish for $799 US (€899 EUR, €799).

We’ve announced details for the Sonos Five and new Sonos Sub. You can also check out our blog for some great stories.

Checking the reviews and excited for mine to arrive. For now, my setup will include 2x Play 1 and a Sub, and be set up as

PS4/Apple TV → HDMI splitter w/ optical audio extraction to Arc → projector

Then if our magical eARC device ever exists, it’ll be

PS5 (by then!)/Apple TV → )the magic dongle] → projector

So when I get it, I’ll be setting my PS4/ATV to output 5.1 and no matter what the audio content I receive is, I’ll get 5.1. Right? I’m doing this now as a test with my home cinema AVR, and DTS content works fine, no silence, because the devices are re-encoding the DTS before output.

Then in future, I’ll be setting them to output LPCM (after the Arc update), and I’ll hopefully get the full experience, including Atmos, and even DTS won’t be a problem? Given that the only device I can imagine running DTS content through ever again (my Apple TV) supports LPCM out, I should be set for the foreseeable future with this setup?

I saw this on another thread from @Rpmartinez1987 so hopefully the missing piece of the puzzle appears at some point soon.

Last night I contacted HDfury about the vertex2 to see if it would allow me to send an AppleTV signal to an Epson 5050ub projector while At the same time sending Dolby Atmos from the Apple TV to the Sonos arc…

their tech support said:

No there is no solution in the world for Sonos currently, we will have one by the end of the year.

Finally, as a projector owner (all my AV sources are external to my display, and always will be) do I have any reason to expect lip-sync issues based on either of the above scenarios (obviously taking something of a leap of faith on the capabilities of whatever eARC audio extractor we end up with)?

Update: Ooh, my credit card just got charged for my order as I posted this!

Mine has been showing as ‘processing’ since last Saturday when my card was charged (payment pending). Still no sign of shipping though.

i guess they will be shipping them out on Monday for Wednesday delivery. That’s what I’m telling myself anyway.

Danish tester on REC.dk confirme that Atmos workes with appletv and lg oled c8. He testet iTunes, Netflix and Disney and all workes.

Just got my shipping notice.  Will be delivered Monday, 8 Jun.  Ordered it on 6 May.

Can’t Wait!!

Then all you’ll need is the software that can run it!

Well, after reading 10 reviews, 20 pages of this thread, and countless articles about ARC/eARC, I just placed an order for the Arc. My first Sonos. If it works as intended, it will be pretty much everything I could want in a soundbar which is why I’m willing to take the plunge.

Unfortunately I have no idea if I’ll actually be able to get Atmos out of it because like so many of you I don’t have a TV with eARC AND I use an Apple TV 4K as my streaming box of choice.

My TV is a Vizio E70-F3 and I’ll make sure do report back here as to the results so that other Vizio owners can have additional data.

Received an email from my CC issuer that my card was charged today (6/7 w/ order placed 5/27) & my order status is now dispatch acknowledged > processing. Per Ryan the FedEx tr. #’s will be sent to us the day they ship, so *hopefully* a delivery sometime this week.

Lucky you , I placed mine on 5/23 and the order status still shows back ordered and no charge to my cc either. I had mine ordered in white so not sure if that’s causing the delay . This will be my 1st entry to sonos from Bose family .

It looks like the Sonos has delayed their shipment of Sonos Arc ( white ) to July 6th to amazon & best buy distributors - as I see those dates on Amazon & Best-buy website in USA . Can a sonos staff clarify what happens to order placed on sonos website @Ryan S  ?

@MikeRunner - Did you just order Arc or the whole surround bundle? Black or white? I ordered White 5.1.2 surround bundle with Arc, Sub & One SL on 5/10 and no update yet. Order still shows Backorder.

@Ryan S - are the white Arc shipments delayed?

My bad for not posting more details earlier, as I only ordered 1 black Arc on 28 May as my typo above incorrectly said the order was placed on 27 May.

Being late Sun. now here in the US something tells me Ryan will stop by Mon. to address anyone’s issues/concerns raised since his last post here Fri.

Anyone had a shipping email yet ? Was hoping these were going to arrive by Wednesday.

Morning folks! :)

We’re working hard to get all pre-orders out as soon as possible. Hardware allocation is a bit distant from my world, so forgive me for being a bit vague. A certain amount of units are sent to stores and distributors, we keep a chunk, and preorders are filled out of that chunk before sales on sonos.com after launch. If we run out of a color or have more pre-orders than are currently available, we’ll fulfill those orders ASAP. I don’t know the numbers, but it’s possible that one color was more popular than the other, or more people ordered one of the colors than expected and we ran out. The production lines are hard at work making sure we can being Arcs to everyone asking for them as quickly as possible (while making sure they’re being made right).

The orders are charged when the unit ships out, so if you’ve got a credit charge, the unit should be heading your way already.

“The orders are charged when the unit ships out, so if you’ve got a credit charge, the unit should be heading your way already.”

Thanks Ryan.

My account was charged 6 days ago, which got me very excited, but the charge has remained ‘pending’ ever since then. Usually when I have a pending charge it clears in a couple days. I have never had a charge remain pending for week.

But this does lead to the obvious question. Is the unit “heading my way already”, or sitting in queue waiting for my charge to clear on your end? I don’t really understand where my order sits right now. I believe there are other people up-thread with similar circumstances.

I never thought I’d say this but… take my money, please!

Exactly the same here. It’s been showing as pending for over a week now. Worst of all is that I’ve sold my beam so I’m wit hound surround sound until the arc gets here.

Mine still says back ordered since 5/23 - and in same situation without any sound system for my tv. Please charge my account and ship my arc 😊

Will there be audio drop out issues as there was with the Playbar on older Samsung TV’s?

This thread was closed without a true resolution.

Will the same issues persist with the ARC. Alot of money to upgrade to a product that will give me the same issues. I have been struggling with the playbar with my JS8500 TV since I got it.

SONOS ARC doesn’t have an optical input. Its strictly HDMI. Its optimally designed for top-of-the-line eARC HDMI, which has only started to trickle into the TV market in the past 18 months or so. Your TV would not be well served by this soundbar and you’d probably want to upgrade.

Thank you for the reply, my TV does have an ARC output but apart from that the Arc does have an HDMI to optical converter and would be fully compatible with 5.1 for now. I can upgrade the TV later. Thank you for your input but I would still like an answer to my original question from the admins if they have it.

Just had my shipping confirmation. Woohoo. Best order the TV now.

Ordered my ark on 27/05 It’s been showing pending for a week. Just had email from Sonos saying it’s been shipped. I ordered the black one and in the Uk. Hope this helps

That issue was ultimately a problem the Samsung TVs had with processing HD video and audio at the same time, being unable to process and output Dolby Digital on optical without having stuttering issues. Switching the TV output to PCM fixed it, because it was less stressful on the TV. The issue was resolved with a software update on the TV, and then it came back after another TV update, and I believe as of a couple years ago it seemed resolved again. The internal ticket doesn’t have an official all clear posted in it, though it hasn’t had any new cases reported in the last 2 years on it. If you’re still having trouble, make sure you’ve gotten the latest firmware for the TV, and you may need to change the audio output settings.

The Sonos Arc is using HDMI with ARC, which has passthrough that should help TVs which would change up the functions the TV is being asked to provide. While I haven’t seen any similar issues with the Arc, if any come up we’ll be eager to investigate and try to resolve any that we can, as well as working with TV manufacturers when possible. If the speaker is getting audio that is cutting out from the source, there’s not much we can do on our end software-wise to fix that.

The charge that was applied on Monday night remains 'pending' status in my bank account. I called my bank to see if there was a problem and they said Sonos' bank in the Netherlands hasn't fully completed the transaction on their end yet.

The fine print on standard shipping says 1-2 days in Europe, excluding weekends, so hopefully that means it will ship today to hit the 10 June date. Crossing fingers.

My status order just went from “back ordered” to “processing”. My Apple Card popped up as just charged, looks like we’re getting our Sonos ARC any day now. 🙂
