My amp just stopped working out of nowhere, I assumed it was just another “sonos” issue with updates and that maybe it would sort itself the next time i go to use it...it did not. I can not get my app to find the device and it had just disappeared from my list.

I dove in for a better look and noticed that it is not showing any sign of life (no white, orange, green lights). I check the surge protector and all other devices and they all are working as they should be.  I unhooked it completely and moved to a different outlet and the still nothing.

Called Sonos, dealing with rude customer service, and being given little to no helpful information. The service person “Michal” mumbles that what sounds like “you (I) must have done something, that I will need to buy another”. I explained this device sits on a shelf, I did not do anything to this, it has been working , and correctly hooked upped. Due to the fact the device is over 1 year old we (sonos) can not replace it or repair it, the only option is for me to buy another and they will give me 30% off another after I ship in the broken one.

I used to be all about this company having many speakers through the house and upgrading items when I could. Over time slowly getting more frustrated as they phase items out, change the app, and force products out of service. I do not know if I can bring myself to purchase another $700 unit even with their 30% code. I have amps from the 60s-70s that still work and better than this (granted no streaming), but the point is something inside with the wiring just went and this is supposed to be a “high end” company.

Is there anything that any one knows of that will either help me to repair this sonos amp or get my audio streaming on my network. I want to go office space on this whole system at this point. I am awaiting details on this 30%code and sending the broken unit in. Will they cover shipping? I don't think i can bring myself to purchase another one but maybe use the coupon for a different product such as the move or the new headphones (that probably underperform) and purchase a old used gen 2 amp on ebay. Although then how long will that last before it is phased out from the app.

Feel like the writing is on the wall for this company. It started off great, service, products, and quality though now… No one likes the app, things barely work all the time as they should, and the products get introduced as fast as they are removed from the line up. Sorry for the long winded post but does any one have any thought or input on this???

Why not add an alternative streamer to one of your vintage amps? you could try the budget Wiim Mini (secondhand off eBay) and sell it on if it’s not for you.

When the Wiim dies, just buy another or similar from another manufacturer, the Bluesound Nano at $300 is another alternative. Your vintage amp and speakers will probably still be going strong in another 10 years.

^good advice. And if feature like hdmi arc is required, WiiM Amp is a good cheap alternative to a Sonos amp.
Sonos amp at 30% off isn’t bad, but wifi4 only sonos in 2024  is a non starter for me imo.

Exact same thing happened to me. I’m not buying another amp from them that will die in 1 year. I ordered a Denon to replace it. Definitely my first and last Sonos purchase.
