I have a Audio Technica turntable connected to a Sonos: Connect. It has a built-in phono pre-amp, and I'm wondering if I need to use an external pre-amp. What would I gain?

If your turntable has a built-in pre-amp why would you want an external pre-amp? Are you getting distorted sound?
