Is the Bridge no longer necessary? If I recently installed a new AC router, should I take my bridge off-line?

Technically no, it's not needed. However you may wish to continue to use it so that your Sonos connect to the dedicated SonosNet versus the wireless network the rest of your devices use. This would help to prevent bandwidth issues.
Alternatively, you can plug a speaker into an Ethernet port and accomplish the same thing as having your Bridge.
