My gen1 Roam has become unresponsive. None of the buttons on top respond and the on/off button is also unresponsive and no lights come on. It is kept on the Sonos base charger when not in use (the charger plug supplies 5v, but I can’t tell if the base pad is working). If I plug a charging cable in the rear socket I get a red light at the bottom but none of the buttons respond. If it wasn’t nailed to the perch would it have fallen off?

If you search “Sonos Roam died” or failure or similar you will find a lot of owners have had Roams stop working.

I would contact Sonos support as they have been replacing them out of warranty (not guaranteed but you should ask), almost like they know there’s a defect or something.

@BlueAstra

When you hold down the on/off button for 5 secs, does it make no sound/response?

Given it seems to have completely given up, are there any steps in the factory reset process (from point 2 onwards) that work to perhaps get it back to factory settings..?

  1. Press and hold the power button on the back of your Roam product for 5 seconds to power it off. You will hear a chime and the status light on the front will turn off.
  2. While holding the Play/Pause button, press and release the power button.
  3. Continue holding the Play/Pause button until the light on the front flashes orange and white.
  4. The light will flash green when the process is complete.

If not, then Sonos Support is probably your only option.
