Is it possible to run the Beam Gen 2 directly from a TV that supports digital audio?  I’ve installed in a location that does not have Wi-Fi.

Not sure I totally understand the question, so maybe this will help.

The Beam needs to be ‘set up’, which includes connecting it to a Sonos account, before it will work. Once that’s done, you could move it to a non-WiFi environment and use it while connected to ARC (or optical, if you had the adapter), but note that it won’t connect to surrounds or a Sub without a WiFi connection, so the best you’d get would be 3.0 of a possible 5.2 speaker sound.

If I recall correctly, the marketing material on the box, and here on the sales page, does say ‘requires Internet connection’, or words to that effect.

Edit: listed under requirements on the Tech Specifications on the sales page:

WiFi

Internet connection

Thanks for the information.  I do have a Sonos System at home so I can set it up on that.  I’m only using the Beam in this other location, so not being able to run with other speakers is not a problem. Thanks again!

Make sure you set the Beam to auto-play when the TV is turned on.

I was fortunate to get a great Sonos tech person on the phone this morning and the Beam is working.  Without Wi-Fi. Couldn’t be happier!  Thanks for all the input.
