Hello, I have tested IFTTT with Google Sheets and it works like a charm. You can setup a routine that will set the volume of your sonos depending on a certain value in a specific cell in Google Sheets...
IFTTT app offers multiple options to set up different actions for you Sonos system. For example you can trigger switch on/off by entering/leaving a specific area or you can switch on/off at a specific time. Simple and combined rules are also possible. Have fun. ?

If you have a Windows system you can also use VNC (remote connection) to control your Sonos gear from an outside computer.
There isn't a way to do this with the Sonos app, but there are a few third party smart apps that can do this, with some limitations. Smartthings, Wink, Lutron, and Alexa come to mind. For the first three, you'd need to buy their hub or echo product to make it work. I'm not sure you have to buy an echo for the Alexa method to work, as technically, your phone is an alexa enabled device. You can definitely turn off music with Alexa, playing music will be limited to what service Amazon allows.

Of course, you can set alarms that will function away from house on a regular schedule.
