Can I join my sonos one or a pair of sonos play 1 to my samsung q55 via the Internet that they are both joined to?

No. Well, yes, they can both join the same WiFi, but the Samsung won’t send a format of data that the Sonos can recognize. You’d need a soundbar made by Sonos, or use the delay in Bluetooth, not WiFi, to connect.

Are you trying to integrate Sonos with a TV or a tablet? Samsung Q55 could apply to either. Also Sonos doesn’t join to a TV nor Tablet over the Internet. Sonos integration with any compatible device is via your home wifi. So please explain what to want or are trying to do.

Thankyou both. I didn't really think that I would be able to do it but I had to ask. I have an old Sony 5.1 surround sound system that has seen better days and was thinking of getting a sonos system to utilise the two Ones that I have.

Thanks tony

OK…now I understand….

A Sonos system can be speakers for music only or a home theater (HT) consisting of a Sonos soundbar, sub and surrounds. You can also have both as many do which are speakers dedicated for music only and a Sonos HT for movies that can also play music.

Unless your Sony system is dead you can purchase a Sonos Port to intergrate Sonos. The Sony system needs an available RCA-in to send Sonos to the Sony system speakers and/or an RCA-out to send source audio (i.e. tape or CD player) to Sonos.

There will be a 75ms delay (creating and echo) sending source audio from Sony system to Sonos; unless you can mute the Sony speakers.

So again what is it that you want to accomplish?

Soundbar, Arc or Beam for the front, your Ones as surrounds would be a good TV and music solution.

A Ray would be less expensive but is a step down from the other two.

Add a Sub Mini to that and you’ve got yourself I nice replacement for your Sony 5.1 system.

The PLAY:1s connect nicely as surrounds to an ‘older’ Sonos soundbar, check the sales page for compatibility. The soundbar connects to your TV via ARC/eARC or optical, depending on the Sonos (and TV). I truly enjoyed my PLAY:1s as surrounds, but I’ve upgraded them to Era 100s in one install, Era 300s in the main install. But the PLAY:1s served me for years quite well, originally as surrounds for PLAYBARs, the Arcs.

I suppose I should say they’re continuing to serve me extremely well, now as stereo pairs in other rooms. The nice thing about Sonos is they can ‘easily’ be reconfigured.
